Charley’s Grilled Subs, San Francisco CA
I would normally say that you really can’t go wrong with French fries covered in nacho cheese and bacon bits, but these weren’t very good. The fries were soft and soggy, yuck!

Black beans, rice, salad. $8.75
Tropisueno, San Francisco CA

I didn’t like this very much. I thought the flavor combinations were weird and didn’t work well together. Carrot, raisin, and pine nuts aren’t a good combo.

Sonoma Coast State Park.

1/4 pound of fresh picked crab mixed with homemade sauce served on a soft roll. $11.95
Spud Point Crab Company, Bodega Bay CA
Mmm, the roll was soft and easy to chew and the crab was fresh and delicious! I wish there was more crab, but I appreciated the reasonable price. Noms!

Bodega Harbor.

Marinated lamb in a ring of hummus with onions, tomatoes and tahini sauce. Served with pita bread. $13
Sunrise Deli, San Francisco CA
Ugh, the lamb was really tough! I liked the hummus and pickled vegetables and the lamb actually had a nice flavor, but after a while my mouth grew tired of chewing the meat.

Sonoma Coast State Park.

Fresh rock cod dipped in traditional beer batter and rolled in Panko crust, fried in canola oil. Served with house tarter sauce. Three piece $14
Fishetarian, Bodega Bay CA
These fried fish were tasty and very large (a great value), but they were actually pretty greasy (boo)! The fries weren’t greasy though, thank goodness.

Lagunitas beer. $5

Fisherman statue, Bodega Harbor.

Voted best clam chowder 11 years in a row. $6.75
Spud Point Crab Company, Bodega Bay CA
OMFG, this was probably one of the best clam chowders I’ve ever eaten! It’s no joke, this was frickin’ amazing. It was smokey, flavorful, and packed with clams and other ingredients. I loved it’s medium texture, and I could have eaten a vat-full. NOMS!

Spud Point Crab Company.

Sonoma Coast State Beach.

Caesar aioli, bacon and field greens. $15
Marlowe, San Francisco CA
I thought the chicken sandwich was delicious, but the side salad was WAY over-dressed! The chicken tasted great and was perfectly fried, but it was the caesar aioli that really got my attention. This made for a great lunch! 🙂

Abstract urban art, Market Street.

Cubed mango, shredded napa cabbage, chili lime dressing topped with sesame seeds. $3
Bun Mee, San Francisco CA
This salad definitely needed more mango! And everything was too acidic so there wasn’t any balance. Gonna have to pass on this next time.

Shipping container cranes, Port of Oakland.

Lemon and sea salt. $9
Marlowe, San Francisco CA
These were tasty, but I will say that after a while they got pretty greasy. I was by myself and I felt kind of sick eating most of the bowl. Once the chips cooled down, the grease just seemed to seep out from everywhere. Yuck!

Dreaming man urban art, Soma.

French country salami (garlic, black pepper, red wine), dry guanciale (garlic, clove, red wine), with baguette and pickled fennel and herbs. Small board $26
Trou Normand, San Francisco CA
Mmm, all of these were SO delicious! They were expertly made and I loved all the different textures and flavors. I also loved the pickled fennel and herbs and the little bowl of aspic was a great touch. I will definitely be back for another chef selection.

Pork pate (trumpet mushrooms, green garlic), ciccioli (black pepper, oregano), with aspic, mustard, and pickled fennel and herbs.

7×7 Magazine’s Big Eat SF: 100 Things to Try Before You Die

Fennel, saffron bouillon, garlic-parsley batonnes, served with fries. $15
Aquitane, San Francisco CA
Meh, I wasn’t impressed. The flavors were ok, but the mussels were small, a bit dry and shriveled. Even the toast was gummy and hard to chew.

These frites were just ok for me. If you’re going to be on some food list, you better be frickin’ amazing, but there just weren’t. They were limp and soggy, and a bit greasy – definitely what you’re looking for in amazing French fries. Boo!

Iced tea.

$4.75
Anda Piroshki, San Francisco CA

I loved this piroshki. It was jam packed with beef and cheese filling and its crust is so deliciously buttery and flaky. It’s rich and hefty enough to constitute a meal in my view. Noms!
