Although the menu description is a bit ridiculous, this huge pile of meat is pretty tasty!  I have no idea what the brown sauce is that they ladle on top of the bbq pork, but it’s pretty good.  I guess you can’t go wrong with gravy.  I also love the pickled cucumbers that comes with the dish.  The pork is sliced pretty thin so it’s very tender and has a great smokey flavor.  When you see this on the menu, don’t expect it cooked bulgogi-style!

So I’m a big fan of The Chairman Bao truck and I’ve been slowly trying all the buns whenever I see the truck on my way home from the gym (great way to lose weight, right?).  Although the pork belly bun is still my favorite, this chicken bun was also very good.  It had great flavor and I love the thin cucumber slices.  The chicken was tender and they certainly put plenty of toppings on the bun.  Go Bao!

Oddly enough, I would say this dish tasted like a Chinese version of spaghetti!  Weird, huh?  My friend order this thinking it was something else, but this is what we got.  It tasted a little bit sweet and the sauce had a slightly slimey texture.  The noodles are underneath and you just mix everything together.  I didn’t NOT like it, but it definitely wasn’t my favorite.  They certainly gave you plenty, though.  🙂 $6.95

Why are “spicy” rolls never really that spicy at Japanese restaurants?  This roll was more sweet than spicy to me.  I think it had some good flavors but lacked the spice.  C’mon guys, gimme some heat!

Wow, this roll was frickin’ amazing!  I loved the heat from all the spicy components, and it looked pretty cool too.  I thought I would experience Montezuma’s revenge afterward, but I didn’t – hehe!  The lightly seared sea bass tasted great and had a great texture.  The chili aioli was so flavorful and I loved the pale yellow color of it.  The sliced chiles added extra heat and flavor.  Not sure I could really distinguished the gobo (burdock root), but I actually didn’t know what it was when I ordered the roll.  I will definitely order this delicious roll again!

I randomly read on Eater.com that Danny Bowien, the chef at Mission Chinese Food, had acquired a smoker and was going to start having bbq on the menu.  So I HAD to order the Chinese bbq platter when I finally saw it on the menu.  I must say that the brisket tastes pretty amazing with a great smoky flavor and oh so tender.  The hot link was ok, didn’t taste very different from others I’ve tried.  I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the pork trotters – very flavorful.  I was afraid that I wouldn’t like the texture of the skin, but I hardly noticed it from the rest of the meat. And of course, the homemade pickles were great!
