Afternoon tea – Virgin Atlantic

Afternoon tea - Virgin Atlantic
Mixed cheese and red onion finger sandwiches on white bread, scone served with Frank Cooper’s “Oxford” strawberry jam and Rodda’s classic cornish clotted cream, and coffee. Complimentary
London (LHR) to San Francisco (SFO), Virgin Atlantic

I’m not a big tea fan so I opted for coffee. I have to say that I really liked the finger sandwiches. They were really flavorful and the white bread with mixed cheese spread had a delightful texture and would playfully stick to the roof of my mouth. The scone with jam and clotted cream were also tasty and different. Yay!

Breakfast bagel – Virgin Atlantic

Breakfast bagel - Virgin Atlantic
Served with Schreiber neufchatel (lite cream cheese), Nature Valley granola bar, Ardmore orange juice, and coffee. Complimentary.
San Francisco (SFO) to London (LHR), Virgin Atlantic

When I opened the breakfast box I thought that it might be an egg and cheese sandwich, but it was only a plain bagel. Oh well. I was happy with anything after being in the air for over 9 hours!

Chocolate Oreo pudding – Virgin Atlantic

Chocolate Oreo pudding - Virgin Atlantic

Dessert and coffee service. Complimentary.
San Francisco (SFO) to London (LHR), Virgin Atlantic

I’m not a big pudding fan, and this didn’t change my mind. The texture of pudding is SO off-putting for me that I can’t get past it most of the time. The Oreo cookie bits were also really soft in this thing. Not a fan of this one. I love the multilingual coffee cup though!

Tosti prosciutto – Il Fornaio Caffe Del Mondo

Tosti prosciutto - Il Fornaio Caffe Del Mondo
Grilled panini with cure Italian ham, artichoke hearts, provolone chese, dijon mustard. $9.50
Il Fornaio Caffe Del Mondo, San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

This sandwich was ok. The bread was dry and hard, but I liked the oozy gooey melted provolone cheese. The prosciutto was also extra salty for some reason. And forget about the service – it’s SUPER slow! If you’re in any hurry, avoid this place with your life!

Small coffee - Il Fornaio Caffe Del Mondo

Small coffee. $2.25

Egg sandwich – Dolores Park Cafe

Egg sandwich - Dolores Park Cafe
Scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese on an English muffin. $4.95
Dolores Park Cafe, San Francisco CA

This simple breakfast sandwich was delicious probably because there was a lot of butter involved, both on the English muffin and eggs. Mmm!

Coffee - Dolores Park Cafe

Coffee with cream and sugar. $2

The windy Lombard Street

The windy Lombard Street. Such a tourist trap but even I have driven down this thing, lol! I feel sorry for the homes on this street, especially since it’s one-way.

Coconut bread pudding – Whisk

Coconut bread pudding - Whisk
Croissant bread pudding with coconut and chocolate sauce. $3
Whisk, Charleston SC

Coconut bread pudding - Whisk

This bread pudding was SUPER sweet! I like sweet things, but this was a little too much – it made my teeth ache. The combination is great, but they need to take it easy on the sugar.

Iced coffee - Whisk

Iced coffee. $3.25

Charleston Waterfront Park Fountain
Charleston Waterfront Park Fountain. There are usually kids running around the center of this fountain, but I was able to snap a quick unobstructed shot.

Zucchini bread – Napa Farms Market

Zucchini bread - Napa Farms Market
Freshly grated zucchini is baked into this hearty bread that’s complimented by crunchy walnuts and spiced cinnamon. $2.75
Napa Farms Market, San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

I think it’s interesting that this market sells baked goods from City Baking Company which is actually based out of South San Francisco and not Napa Valley. Oh well, the bread was delicious and cut nice and thick.

Small drip Equator coffee - Napa Farms Market

Small drip Equator Coffees & Teas. $2.25

Sun-dried tomato cream cheese bagel – Jumpin’ Java Coffee House

Sun-dried tomato cream cheese bagel - Jumpin' Java Coffee House
On a toasted onion bagel – $2.95. Medium coffee – $1.85.
Jumpin’ Java Coffee House, San Francisco CA

Mmm, I love sun-dried tomato spread! They tend to pack it on so I’ll usually ask for “light on the cream cheese”. This time they gave a medium portion, hehe.

United States Mint, Hermann Street
United States Mint, Hermann Street. This is a view of the building from Market Street. I think it’s kind of weird that we have a working Mint in our city. You don’t hear much about it, but I wonder if they give tours?  XUA8JXQWDRXG

Cream cheese and tomato bagel sandwich – Jumpin’ Java Coffee House

Cream cheese and tomato bagel sandwich - Jumpin' Java Coffee House
On a toasted asiago bagel – $2.75. Large coffee – $2.
Jumpin’ Java Coffee House, San Francisco CA

I used to come to Jumpin’ Java regularly when I live on Castro and 14th. It’s a chill and relaxed place to grab coffee and work on your computer. I think the owners have changed since then, but it’s still a great o place to hang out. The people behind the counter are super nice and the bagels are deelish!

Acorn-cranberry custard – Benu

Acorn-cranberry custard Benu

With banana ice cream. Pre fixe dinner $180
Benu, San Francisco

This dessert was great to look at, but it didn’t do it for me. Maybe it was too intricate for me, but I didn’t get much enjoyment from eating it. The ribbon of custard was impressive. It had a cranberry layer and a cranberry layer. The bright, shiny cranberries were also beautiful on the plate. The banana ice cream had a great punch of flavor, but I didn’t like the texture of it. All the components didn’t quite work together. They were too disparate.

Acorn-cranberry custard Benu
Coffee service Benu

Coffee service. $5
I’m still on the fence regarding their coffee service-ware. They appeared too clunky compared to all the other beautiful dishes during the meal.

Apple danish – Upper Terrace Market

Project 365: Day 102

Worked out this morning before meeting D-Dubs for breakfast at Dolores Park Cafe. I had to give him Kry’s camera before he flies out for Germany. It was nice catching up with him and I’m super excited to meet then in Dublin in 1.5 weeks. Had to go into work again for a quick assignment. Now, I’ve just been working on this blog, doing laundry, and watching tv. This weekend as flown by! Now I have to pack for my trip to Las Vegas tomorrow afternoon. Ugh, I’m SO tired of traveling!

Apple danish Upper Terrace Market

I’m not sure where they get their pastries, but this apple danish was calling to me. It was pretty good! And I love the friendly guys at Upper Terrace Market. It’s such a cute, neighborhood corner store.
Upper Terrace Market, San Francisco
