Pistacchio di bronte & Fiori di lavanda e pesca bianca gelato – Gelateria del Teatro

Pistacchio di bronte & Fiori di lavanda e pesca bianca gelato - Gelateria del Teatro
Silician pistachio & lavendar and white peach gelato.
Gelateria del Teatro, Rome ITALY

Yum, this gelato was really good! I wish I could walk around Rome just trying out all the little gelato shops and all their different flavors. I would become quite obese, but at least I’d be happy!

Rabbit cacciatora – Tordomatto

Rabbit cacciatora - Tordomatto
“Tradition” tasting menu €65
Tordomatto, Rome ITALY

Omg, the dishes just kept getting better and better. This rabbit cacciatora was simply divine. The rabbit meat was so juicy and succulent and the sauce was to die for. These are the times when I love eating!

Amuse bouche - Tordomatto
Amuse bouche. I didn’t much care for the “olive” bite in the background.

Lasagna – Napoletano’s Pantheon

Lasagna - Napoletano's Pantheon
Baked lasagne with minced beef, mozzarella, tomato sauce, parmesan cheese. €11
Napoletano’s Pantheon, Rome ITALY

Just like mama used to make! Ok, my mom never made me lasagna growing up, but if she did I would hope that it tasted like this one! This tasted great – it was hot, gooey from the cheese and the meat sauce was delicious. A total winner!

Napoli pizza – Magnolia

Napoli pizza - Magnolia
Tomato, mozzarella, anchovies. Whole €10
Magnolia, Rome ITALY

I know that it looks like there isn’t much going on with this pizza, but it sure was tasty! I’m a big fan of anchovies (unlike a lot of people I know), but I loved this pizza. And did I mention that the service was great at this restaurant?! Unlike many of the tourist traps in Campo dei Fiori, I would actually come back to Magnolia and truly enjoy myself.

Ma po silken tofu – Mister Jiu’s

Ma po silken tofu - Mister Jiu's
With ground pork, chilies, green onion. $16
Mister Jiu’s, San Francisco CA

I think Mission Chinese Food got me into loving mapo tofu because have such a spicy and flavorful version. This version at Mister Jiu’s wasn’t nearly as spicy, but it was flavorful in its own right. I love the fine texture of the dish, and it tasted great over rice.

Oxtail a la vaccinara – Tordomatto

Oxtail a la vaccinara - Tordomatto
With celery. “Tradition” tasting menu €65
Tordomatto, Rome ITALY

I’m in love with this restaurant! We went to the Vatican Museum that morning, so I checked what was nearby for lunch and chose this place. I’m SO glad I did because the food (and service) was AMAZING! We did the “traditional” tasting menu, but it was far from it. The flavors and concepts were traditional, but the techniques and presentation were contemporary and so great! Mmm…
