Sauteed shrimp, lemon, garlic. Chef’s tasting $45
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
These shrimp were super juicy and tender and the sauce was wonderfully garlicky. Gambas are one of my favorite tapas and these were a tasty version.

Wtih greens. $9
Boccalone, San Francisco CA
Mmm, another great Boccalone sandwich. The salty lonza tasted great with the sweet fig spread and peppery arugula.

Summer corn vinaigrette, queso fresco. $11
The Table, San Jose CA
This salad was good. I loved the different textures from the cheese, seeds, and greens. The endive and radicchio were also nice and peppery.

Bread and olive oil with butter.

Garlic rubbed crostini topped with fresh diced tomato and basil, drizzled with balsamic glaze. $10
Affinity Restaurant & Bar, San Jose CA
This was good. The ingredients were fresh and clean tasting, but the balsamic glaze would have been better actually drizzled on top instead of underneath.

Chicken, prawns, tofu, lo mein noodle, mint, basil. $14.50
Betelnut Restaurant, San Francisco CA
Meh, I wasn’t too impressed with this laksa. It seemed a little watered down to me. I wish there was more depth of flavor and a kick to it.

Horseradish mashed potatoes, toasted breadcrumbs. $21.50
Buckeye Roadhouse, Mill Valley CA
This brisket was nice and smoky, and the mashed potatoes and sauce were packed with flavor and yummy! I just wish that all parts of the brisket was equally moist and tender.

Seasonal vegetarian bomba rice, tomato, chayote, fried squash blossom. Chef’s tasting $45
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
I liked the texture of the rice, but it was surprisingly on the bland side. The fried squash blossom was also cold and limp by the time this dish arrived at the table.

Three meats with greens, provolone and oregano vinaigrette. $9.50
Boccalone, San Francisco CA
This sandwich was great! We grabbed them from the ferry building on our way to hike on Angel Island so they were a great treat after walking all day. I loved all the fresh charcuterie in sandwich and the bread was great too. Noms!

Classic savory biscuit made with grated cheddar cheese. $3
Biscuit Bender, San Francisco CA
I liked this biscuit. It was light and flaky, slightly baking powder-y, and the center was soft and remained a bit doughy. The cheddar cheese tasted great and provided another textural component. Mmm…

Pork marinated in achiote lemon sauce with marinated red onions, peppers and garlic. Served with rice, black beans, salad, guacamole, sour cream and salsa.
La Tortilla, San Francisco CA
I liked the flavor of the pork, but it was really dry. I wish they could have used a different cut or added more fat into the dish.

Garlic, thai basil. $13.25
Betelnut Restaurant, San Francisco CA
Wow, this ribs were delicious! They were SO flavorful, hot, sticky and wonderful. I loved the combination of flavors in the glaze. These definitely hit the spot and I couldn’t stop eating them!

Horseradish cocktail sauce, mignonette sauce.
Buckeye Roadhouse, Mill Valley CA
These oysters were fresh and delicious. I love Miyagi’s because they’re pretty small, clean tasting and briny. Mmm…
