Breakfast cocktails – Balancoire

Mary cocktail - Balancoire

Mary: Reposado tequila, spicy tomato blend. $10
Balancoire, San Francisco CA

Since our food and service experience at this restaurant was a disaster, we were hoping that they could at least make a decent cocktail. Unfortunately, they couldn’t. The mimosa was super low quality and the bloody mary had a weird aftertaste. Boo!!!

Mimosa - Balancoire

Mimosas – Plow

Mimosas - Plow

With grapefruit juice. $8.50
With orange juice. $8
Plow, San Francisco CA

Yummy mimosas lead to a happy me! I’m kinda annoyed that they charge fifty cents extra for the grapefuit juice though especially since it isn’t listed on their menu.

No Cell Phone sign

No Cell Phone sign at the Plow counter. Oops, I still used my to snap food pics! 😉

Soju cocktails – Solaire Restaurant + Bar

Soju cocktails - Solaire Restaurant + Bar
Santa Cruz 75: bubbles, elderflower and lemon. $8
Bubbly Berry: bubbles, berry, lemon, pomegranate and hibiscus. $8
Solaire Restaurant + Bar, Santa Cruz CA

I don’t know why I think that soju cocktails are ever going to please my palate. I always have a false sense of hope that I’ll finally like how they taste. Well, I was wrong yet again! Solaire doesn’t have a proper liquor license so they’re stuck with serving hard liquor replacement cocktails. Both of these were especially sweet and nauseating.

Bellini and Kir royal - L'appart Resto

Bellini: sparkling wine and peach. $8.50
Kir royal: sparkling wine and creme de cassis. $8.50
L’appart Resto, San Anselmo CA

Mmm, champagne brunch cocktails are delicious and I love mixing it up! L’appart Resto had nice alternatives to the usual mimosa, score!

Bread - L'appart Resto
Bread. Complimentary
This bread was really tasty especially with the real butter slathered on top, noms!

Loco moco – Namu Gaji

Loco moco - Namu Gaji
“We love eating loco moco. A Hawaiian staple, great for hangovers.” Marin Sun Farms grassfed beef patty, dashi gravy, sunny-side up egg over rice. $12
Namu Gaji, San Francisco CA

Meh, this was a disappointment. You couldn’t taste the dashi flavor in the gravy and the portion was super small. There’s so little food that it wouldn’t begin to cure a hangover! I was also confused why this came in a paper boat while they use real boards and dinnerware for everything else. This was my first time at Namu Gaji and I was definitely NOT impressed.

Francois Pinon Vouvray - Namu Gaji

Francois Pinon Vouvray “non-dose” NV (chenin blanc). $12
This sparkling wine tasted ok, but it was such a tiny pour for twelve bucks! Sheesh!

Mimosas – Cafe Chloe

Mimosas - Cafe Chloe

Pomegranate and lavendar-lemon. Each $8.75
Cafe Chloe, San Diego CA

This was a very cute brunch location with great service and awesome food. These mimosas were tasty and well balanced. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the warm morning.

Mimosas – King’s Highway

Mimosas - King's Highway

Sparkling wine and orange juice. $10 each
King’s Highway, Palm Springs CA

I guess this space used to be a Denny’s or an IHOP, but they’ve turned it into a funky, warm retro restaurant. The staff is super hipster and friendly. A bit on the slow side but hipsters can’t be bother, hehe.

Cocktails – Starbelly

Mimosa - Starbelly

Mimosa. $9
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

This visit to Starbelly was the straw that broke the camel’s back. The service was horrendous and the food and drinks could not have come any slower. The time elapsed between our appetizer and entree was just stupidly long. While these cocktails tasted fine, the time it took waiting for them completely erased any enjoyment we could have derived from their consumption.

Sangria - Starbelly

Sangria. $8

Mimosa – Circa 59

Mimosa - Circa 59
Standard bloody mary. $7
Circa 59, Palm Springs CA

I’ve already expressed my extreme disappointment of this restaurant so I don’t have to say too much more. This restaurant sadly relies heavily on the posh hotel and hip clientele and has placed little to no importance on the actual food or service.

Circa 59 tables
Notice the empty water glasses at the table during this hot, sunny day. We were stranded at our table without a server in sight. After sweating for a while, we were finally able to flag down a manager to get us some water.

Low gravity mango sunrise – The WestWood

Low gravity mango sunrise - The WestWood

Mango flavored mimosa. Pitcher $28
The WestWood, San Francisco CA

As mimosas in the city go, this is one of the more expensive ones and for no apparent reason. It tasted fine, but it wasn’t worth the extra cost and the carafe is even on the small side.
