Veggies and mushrooms – Hahn’s Hibachi

Veggies and mushrooms - Hahn's Hibachi
Delicious mixture of veggies cooked to order in Hahn’s special spicy sauce. Served with rice, bean sprouts and kimchee. $8.95
Hahn’s Hibachi, San Francisco CA

Hmm, this was just ok – really nothing special. I chose the spicy sauce option and there wasn’t any heat despite the presence of chili flakes.

Grass fed Mongolian beef – Region

Grass fed Mongolian beef - Region
Tossed with homemade potato chips. $17
Region, San Francisco CA

This was another first for me – Mongolian beef with potato chips. Most Mongolian beef dishes come with the fried noodles that add a crispy texture, but these had potato chips. They were only somewhat crispy because the sticky sauce had soften them a bit. Believe it or not, I found this dish oddly amazing! Perhaps it’s because of the fact that I was eating potato chips with my entree. I felt guilty and happy at once.

Brandon’s grass fed beef burger – Grub

Brandon's grass fed beef burger - Grub
Housemade bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and sriracha aioli served on a toasted pain de mie bun. $13
Grub, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this burger was pretty tasty! It was well cooked and had lots of flavor. I loved the soft, toasted pain de mie and the thick slices of bacon. The sriracha aioli could’ve had more kick though.

Lapin facon Normande – Le P’tit Laurent

Lapin facon Normande - Le P'tit Laurent
Rabbit Normandy served with roasted potatoes and onions. $28
Le P’tit Laurent, San Francisco CA

Omg, I’m in love with this dish! The rabbit was so tender and the sauce was perfection. It had SO much flavor and depth that I couldn’t stop eating. I can’t wait for my Paris trip this summer to try the real deal!

Mac and cheese – Citizen’s Band

Mac and cheese - Citizen's Band
Baked macaroni and fontina, cheddar fonduta, and onion rings. $8
Citizen’s Band, San Francisco CA

Meh… Being on the 7X7 list, I was expecting to be blown away by this dish, but this was a bit of a disappointment. The onion rings where very large, but really limp and soggy. And the mac and cheese was too hard and congealed. The cheddar fonduta did little to help add much needed moisture to the dry block of mac and cheese. Too bad…

Tacos al pastor – Chilango

Tacos al pastor - Chilango
Two corn tortillas filled with marinated pork, cilantro and onion. Served with caramelized onions, salsa, and rice and beans. $7
Chilango, San Francisco CA

Yuck, I did not enjoy this! The al pastor marinade the used was way different from anything I’ve tasted before. It was way too vinegary and super strong tasting. Even drenching the tacos in salsa didn’t really help. I don’t think I’ll ever order this from Chilango again.

Rice and beans - Chilango

Guacamole chilango – Chilango

Guacamole chilango - Chilango
Avocado with lime, onion, cilantro, and serrano chile. Small $6
Chilango, San Francisco CA

Mmm, I love guacamole! I hated it as a kid because its appearance grossed me out, but now I can’t get enough of it. Is it also weird that I prefer the tortilla strips over the triangles! Hehe.

Smoked sturgeon pancake – State Bird Provisions

Smoked sturgeon pancake - State Bird Provisions
Horseradish schmear, “everything” pancake, frisee, pickled onion. $12
State Bird Provisions, San Francisco CA

Omg, I love State Bird! Their American dim sum fare is fun and delicious and they have amazing service. The hipsters who work there are super friendly and accommodating. This smoked sturgeon pancake was my favorite dish during our first visit. We’ve been there a couple times now, and this dish is still one the best!

Pork belly sloppy joe – King’s Highway

Pork belly sloppy joe - King's Highway
Smoky bbq sauce, cornmeal buttermilk onion rings, seasoned French fries. $13
King’s Highway, Palm Springs CA

This was one of the fancier sloppy joes I’ve ever had, lol! The pork belly was delicious and I like the bbq sauce. The onion rings were a bit greasy, but the French fries rocked!

Mini burgers – Matchbox Palm Springs

Mini burgers - Matchbox Palm Springs

Hand-pattied certified angus beef, toasted brioche, pickles, and onion straws. Three for $9
Matchbox Palm Springs, Palm Springs CA

Thank goodness that we really liked our server/bartender because the food at Matchbox wasn’t all that good. These sliders were on the boring side – I mean they could have at least toasted and buttered the buns. The onion straws were also too thin to really enjoy and they quickly became soggy.

Beef enchirito – Taco Bell

Beef enchirito - Taco Bell
A warm, soft flour tortilla wrapped around seasoned beef, hearty beans, diced onion, real cheddar cheese, and tangy red sauce. 360 calories, 17g fat
Taco Bell, Palm Springs CA

The enchirito is another one of my favorite Taco Bell items probably because it’s SO saucey and cheesy! It goes down so easily during that late night “fourthmeal”, lol!

Prather Ranch burger – Starbelly

Prather Ranch burger - Starbelly
March 2, 2014. With aged cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, house cut fries and pickle, grilled sesame seed challah bun. $13
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

Apparently, Starbelly believes that their burger is SO amazing that it needs 1 hour to prepare it and get it to your table. Puh-lease! This was my final meal at Starbelly, and it wasn’t even that good. Time to move onto greener pastures.
