Date shake and ice cream – Hadley Fruit Orchards

Date shake - Hadley Fruit Orchards
Date milkshake. Small $3.75
Hadley Fruit Orchards, Cabazon CA

Mmm, I really like Hadley’s date shake but a little definitely goes a long way. It’s pretty sweet and I enjoyed the pieces of crystallized dates in it. Someone told that they used to make the shakes from scratch, but now they’re pre-mixed and dispensed from a machine. It’d be nice if they started handmaking them again, but the ladies working the place are kinda old and slow so I doubt that’s gonna happen.

Date ice cream - Hadley Fruit Orchards
Date ice cream. $3.99
Ugh, I didn’t know that this was gonna come pre-scooped and slightly freezer burned! Lame!

Spicy crab roll – KOA Newsstand

Spicy crab roll - KOA Newsstand
Imitation crab and sushi rice wrapped in nori. $2.50
KOA Newsstand, Kona International Airport (KOA)

I liked how the rice and fillings were packaged seaprately from the nori so it wouldn’t get wet. For newsstand sushi, this was pretty good. I also grabbed a Royal Mills iced cappuccino for a yummy snack before my flight.

Blueberry muffin – HNL Food Kiosk

Blueberry muffin - HNL food kiosk
$3.25
HNL Food Kiosk, Honolulu International Airport (HNL)

We were starving when we got to the HNL domestic terminals to fly to the Big Island, but there wasn’t much to choose from. The only thing open was a small food kiosk with generic snack options. We chose the blueberry muffin because it was large enough to share. It was ok…

Rainbow shaved ice – Waiola Shave Ice

Rainbow shaved ice - Waiola Shave Ice

Strawbeery, banana, and vanilla. Small cup $2.15
Waiola Shave Ice, Honolulu HI

Mmm, this shaved ice was SO yummy! The ice is super fine and fluffy, unlike the the kind we get on the mainland. The syrup is also very good and not overly sweet. The service could use some improvement though.

Crab sandwich – We’re On A Roll

Crab sandwich - We're On A Roll
Served on grilled San Francisco sourdough with lettuce and tomato, Hawaiian Luau BBQ potato chips and cole slaw. $14
We’re On A Roll, South San Francisco CA

Wow, this sandwich was so buttery good and packed with crab meat. It’s a no-frills sammy so the crab has to be spectacular, and it was! Fourteen bucks is a bit much for a lunchtime sandiwch but I think it’s worth it because of the quality of the crab and you get coleslaw and chips. There are also picnic tables nearby where you can relax and enjoy your delicious lunch!

Toppings counter - We're On A Roll

Lobster corn chowder – We’re On A Roll

Lobster corn chowder - We're On A Roll
Served with fresh griddled bread. Cup $5
We’re On A Roll, South San Francisco CA

This chowder was SO flavorful, noms! I usually expect chowders to be on the creamier side so I was a little surprised at how thin this lobster corn chowder was. That said, it was so delicious that I completely forgave its thin consistency. I don’t know what they put in this thing to produce so much flavor, but I want the recipe!

Waffle with caramel sauce – Belgian Waffle Stand

Waffle with caramel sauce - Belgian Waffle Stand
Plain waffle with caramel topping. £2.50
Belgian Waffle Stand, London ENGLAND

This random waffle stand sits right outside the Green Park Tube Station and literally smells of butter and sugar, lol! They offer a variety of toppings including chocolate, strawberry, cream, fruit, etc. The waffles are super sugary and the caramel sauce made it even sweeter. It had great flavor and it was warm, but definitely way too sweet for me!

Vanilla soft ice cream – Josef Ice Cream Van

Vanilla soft ice cream - Josef Ice Cream Van

Callestick Farm Cornish dairy soft ice cream served with a chocolate stick. Small £2.30
Josef Ice Cream Van, London ENGLAND

The day got surprisingly warm so we took an ice cream break at the Joseph Ice Cream Van parked along the Tower of London. The soft serve ice cream was SUPER airy and whippy! The chocolate stick was odd in that it’s really a compressed chocolate ribbon making it light and crumbly. Ahhh, just what we needed!

Tower Bridge south suspension. A beautiful and easily accessible bridge – no wonder this iconic bridge is SO popular with us tourists! There are tours that take you up one tower, across the walkway, and down the other tower. Didn’t do it this trip but it sounds fun!

Tacos al pastor – Taqueria El Mexicano

Tacos al pastor Taqueria El Mexicano
Spicy pork with onions, hot salsa, and cilantro on corn tortillas with lime and radishes. $1 each
Taqueria El Mexicano, South San Francisco CA

Mmm, I sometimes head to the Taqueria El Mexicano taco truck to in the afternoon when I start getting hunger pangs. The tacos are delicious and at only $1 each, they won’t break the bank. It seems that the truck near the corner of Utah Ave and South Airport Blvd changes, but the tacos are always good.

Fish taco – Crazy Coyote Tacos

Project 365: Day 89

I really wish I was staying in a hotel closer to downtown and not near the airport in North Charleston. The food options in this area are limited, just fast food or chain restaurants. After work today, a co-worker and I ended up at Ruby Tuesday. Ugh, I’m gonna have to use the rental car and drive into the city soon for dinner.
