Serrano ham, pine nut escabeche. Chef’s tasting $45
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
These were good, solid even, but nothing very special. I liked the addition of the serrano ham to the brussels sprouts though for added flavor.

Housemade corned beef hash, poached eggs, toasted English muffin topped with housemade hollandaise sauce, served with hash browns. $14.95
The Cove on Castro, San Francisco CA
These eggs benedict were tasty! The corned beef hash was a yummy alternative to the typical ham slices. And again, their hash browns were pretty darn delicious!

Chevre with green chiles and plum jam. $4.25
Cowgirl Creamery, San Francisco CA
This was simple and delicious! The spicy chevre cheese wasn’t very spicy, but the green chiles were flavorful and perfect with the sweet plum jam.

Fennel, shallot, lavender, lemon, pastis-chardonnay broth.
Garcon, San Francisco CA
Hmm, I liked this ok but it was a bit too bitter. I’m not sure if it was the fennel or the lavender, but it was a bit over-powering.

$9.75
Betelnut Restaurant, San Francisco CA
These green beans had a good flavor, but they were WAY too salty! They were even good nicely and still had a nice bite to them but that saltiness was distracting.

Marcona almonds, watercress, amaranth. $12.95
Buckeye Roadhouse, Mill Valley CA
Mmm, this was yummy. I love burrata cheese and it tasted wonderfully paired with the grilled yellow peaches. It was rich and bright at the same time.

Heavenly Old-Fashioned: Angel’s Envy bourbon, bitters, sugar, gigantic ice cube. $12

Spanish octopus, potatoes, paprika. Chef’s tasting $45
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
Octopus can easily get really hard and chewy, but these slices were very tender. They tasted great as did the potato medallions.

With sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and wheat toast. $13.95
The Cove on Castro, San Francisco CA
This dish wasn’t the healthiest choice and it tasted as much, lol! The gravy was delicious, and on the floury side with lots of little sausage chunks in it. The chicken fried steak remained crispy even while drenched in gravy. The scrambled eggs were nice and soft and the hash browns were warm and crispy on the outside. Mmm!

Coffee and mimosa.

Fried chicken with their special sweet and sour sauce. $11
Thai House Express, San Francisco CA
This chicken was hard and dry! Lame. And their “special” sweet and sour tasted funky and wasn’t very good. I don’t think I’ll ever order this sad dish again.

Brown rice. $5

White cheddar grit cake, bacon, Swiss chard, prosciutto wrapped peaches, pork jus. $27
Garcon, San Francisco CA
My favorite part of this dish was the prosciutto wrapped peaches! They were so juicy, sweet and savory. The pork was cooked pretty well too, still tender and also flavorful. I thought the grit cakes looked better on paper than what was actually served.

Sriracha, lemon granita. Each $2.95
Betelnut Restaurant, San Francisco CA
Yuck! The oysters didn’t taste fresh, they weren’t shucked cleanly, and the sriracha-lemon granita tasted horrible.

Kirin ichiban beer. $6.50

Chicken with home made chocolate plantain mole, served with rice, black beans, salad, guacamole, sour cream and salsa.
La Tortilla, San Francisco CA
This was pretty good. I liked the flavor of the mole. I chicken that I received was a huge breast piece which was a bit dry. I always prefer the juicier dark pieces.
