The #19 sandwich – Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen

The #19 sandwich - Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen
Corned beef on rye with ‘slaw, Russian, and cold swiss cheese. Their tribute to Langer’s Deli in LA. $13.75
Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen, San Francisco CA

I love the sandwiches at Wise Sons. The meats are spectacular and the rye bread is divine. They’re a bit expensive, but I think that the quality is worth it. This sandwich was delicious and messy – just how I like it!

Sandwich cubano - Paladar Cafe Cubano
Hot pressed bocadillo with roast pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo and mustard. Served with bowl of soup and house plantain chips. Lunch special $11.75
Paladar Cafe Cubano, San Francisco CA

Eh, I wasn’t too impressed with this meal. I thought the pork was ok, but the sandwich was kinda dry and not properly pressed. I expected more because I had heard good things from fellow FiDi workers.

Fried chicken po-boy – Starbelly

Fried chicken po-boy - Starbelly
Jalapano and radicchio slaw, sesame bun, served with French fries. $10
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

I liked the idea of this po’boy sandwich and I think that it’s a great value, but the chicken was over-fried and dry. Ew! Even the slaw and ketchup couldn’t save it. 😦  At least the fries were good.

Lamb gyro sandwich – Halal Cart

Lamb gyro sandwich - Halal Cart
I really do love gyros. I have weird cravings for them every once and a while. I love the meat at Halal Cart, a popular lunch spot on Market Street. It’s juicy and flavorful (and probably super fatty) and just kind of melts in your mouth. I also love their squeeze bottles of hot sauce that you can douse your food with. I don’t like that they use styrofoam. Did they not know we’re in San Francisco? Sheesh! $7

Tuna Melt – The Grove

Tuna Melt - The Grove
Housemade mayo-free tuna salad with fontina cheese and roma tomatoes. Served with Kettle chips and a pickle. $9.95
The Grove, San Francisco CA

This sandwich was good, but I kinda missed the mayo. I know that’s horrible of me to say, but I love me my mayo, lol! Ok, this sandwich was pretty good otherwise and I loved the toasted bread that they use. It could have used a bit more of melted fontina to keep everything together.

The Mission grilled cheese sandwich – The Melt

The Mission grilled cheese sandwich - The Melt
Pepper jack cheese and jalapeño on sourdough (with braised short rib added). Served with a pickle and chips. $6.95
The Melt, San Francisco CA

Ugh, I don’t know what I was thinking! I was craving an afternoon snack and ended up with this instead. I think this constitutes more than a mere snack. Anyway, it was still very tasty and totally hit the spot. Perhaps I didn’t really need the short rib add-on, but I wanted the protein. Hehe.

Pastrami reuben sandwich – Bouchon Bakery

Pastrami reuben sandwich - Bouchon Bakery
With sauerkraut and swiss cheese on marbled rye bread. $9.50
Bouchon Bakery, Yountville CA

This sandwich was actually really good, and I think it’s a much better value than the stupid quiche that you had to wait 20 minutes for! They probably could have piled on a few more slices of pastrami though.

Omg, this sandwich was AMAZING! It had everything that I love, and it was overflowing with flavor. I could eat this every day. I’d probably die of a heart attack, but at least I’d die happy. Hehe. 🙂

Now this is what I call a sandwich! This place is amazing and the sandwiches are killer! The pork is SO tender and flavorful. It’s a messy endeavor to eat this monster, but it’s completely worth it. NOMS!

This sandwich was SO good! I mean who doesn’t love dipping sandwiches in delicious jus?! The pea vines were also a nice twist on greens and the onion marmalade was a great “condiment”. NOMS!

Ham and cheese roll – United Airlines

Ham and cheese roll - United Airlines
On a parmesan pretzel roll, with potato chips and chocolate cluster.
London (LHR) to San Francisco (SFO), United Airlines

It’s nice to receive a warm “breakfast”, and this was decent. The roll was on the hard and chewy side, but it had ham and cheese so it was bearable. The potato chips were throw-aways (very poor quality). The chocolate cluster wasn’t very good either, but it I’m not gonna complain too much about a sweet treat!
