Brunch plate 2 – Wicked Spoon Buffet

Brunch plate 2 - Wicked Spoon Buffet
Smoked salmon (lox), cucumber, tomatoes, capers, baguette with whipped cream cheese, olives, cornichons, ham, salami. Brunch buffet $22
Wicked Spoon Buffet, Las Vegas NV

I needed a little break from the heavier items so I got a plate with lox and charcuterie to break things up. Salty, cured, and fatty = a happy me!

Italiano sandwich – Bella Napoli

Italiano sandwich - Bella Napoli
Handcrafted, made-to-order sandwich with Genoa salami, capicola, sopressata, and provolone cheese with lettuce and sliced tomatoes. Served with a side salad, balsamic vinaigrette. $6.99
Bella Napoli, North Charleston SC

Ugh, this sandwich was kinda boring. There was nothing special about the sandwich or the restaurant. I guess it’s a good value if you can stay awake despite the boredom.

Carne board – Uva Enoteca

Carne board Uva Enoteca

3 item charcuterie board with hot coppa (San Francisco), salame al tartufo (Utah), and turkey galantine (San Francisco). $15
Uva Enoteca, San Francisco

I learned something new! According to Wikipedia “A galantine is a French dish of de-boned stuffed meat, most commonly poultry or fish, that is poached and served cold, coated with aspic.” I’m not sure if this turkey was stuffed and maybe they scraped the aspic off before serving, but it was delicious! And we were surprised by the size of the slab. Of the three items we ordered, the truffled salami was my favorite. I’ve since purchased some from Whole Foods and secretly snack on it throughout the week.

Bread and mustard Uva Enoteca

Bread and mustard.

Salumi, cheese and tapenade

Project 365: Day 7

Omg! I am SO tired. I biked almost 15 miles to work this morning even though my legs were still tired from squats a couple days ago. Then Rapunzel, Papa Chang and I took a 30-minute bike ride before lunch. And then I biked to Bart after work and back home from the Bart station near my house. I was so hungry all day because I burned so many calories from biking. Maybe I’m over doing it on the exercise. I keep thinking, “Cruise, cruise, cruise!” I even had a dream about the cruise last night!

I’ve got to say that taking the midday ride was really fun and beautiful! It was nice to get out of the office, get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors. I love being outside and I’m glad that some of my coworkers do too!

Salumi cheese and tapenade

Prosciutto, salame al tartufo, taleggio cheese, reblochon prefere de fromi cheese, mixed olive tapenade, fig and olive tapenade, multiseed flatbread.

After I had an early dinner, I was still super hungry so I made myself a nice snack plate to munch on while catching up on DVR. I love truffle flavored salami – I bought these from Whole Foods. Actually, everything on this plate is from Whole Foods, lol!

Italian sub – Luigi’s Sandwich Palace

Italian sub Luigi's Sandwich Palace

1/2 sandwich with mortadella, salami, provolone cheese, sundried tomatoes, lettuce, garlic, and pepperocinis on a wheat bun. 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup combo, $5.95
Luigi’s Sandwich Palace, South San Francisco

Omg, for 1/2 a sandwich this was HUGE and tasty!  I loved the combination of mortadella, salami and provolone.  The sundried tomatoes and pepperocinis added lots of flavor.  I wasn’t blown away by this sandwich but it was simple and delicious.  Can’t complain about that!

Salami sandwich – La Boulange de Noe

Salami sandwich La Boulange de Noe

Sliced salami and cornichons on a plain baguette.  $4.50
La Boulange de Noe, San Francisco

How can you go wrong with sliced hard salami on a baguette!?  Add some cornichons and you’ve got a winner!  This sandwich doesn’t need the help of any condiments, it’s perfect in its simplicity.  My only gripe was that the baguette was a little chewy and stale.  I think it’s because these “Grab & Go” sandwiches are premade and kept in a plastic sleeve.  They’re easy and tasty regardless.
