Fruit tart – KC Cafe

Fruit tart - KC Cafe
Strawberries and blueberries. $5.95
KC Cafe, Washington DC

After a full day of sightseeing and walking everywhere, we decided to grab a quick snack at the Kennedy Center before catching the sunset from the rooftop. This fruit tart was pretty good and paired well with wine for a nice, relaxing break.

Shakshouka – DGS Delicatessen

Shakshouka - DGS Delicatessen
Poached eggs, tomato and roasted pepper stew, grilled bread. $12
DGS Delicatessen, Washington DC

This certainly wasn’t what I expected. This was actually just baked eggs (not even poached) in some tomato and pepper sauce. It was kinda weird and had an odd  flavor that I couldn’t quite pin down. I wouldn’t order this again.

New England clam chowder – Old Ebbitt Grill

New England clam chowder - Old Ebbitt Grill
Traditional bacon, cream and potato chowder. Cup $6.10
Old Ebbitt Grill, Washington DC

This clam chowder was good – I’ve definitely had better though. I thought the pricing was a bit odd. Who lists prices with an extra ten cents?! I guess when you’re the oldest restaurant in town, you can do what you want.

Tico's bacon cheeseburger - Tico
Omg, this cheeseburger was delicious! The beef patty was plump and juicy and had a nice char to it. The bacon looked and tasted glorious and the sauce was heaven. A winner!

Hibiscus margarita cocktail - Tico
