Fish sandwich – Bongo Johnny’s

Fish sandwich - Bongo Johnny's
Two pieces of crispy battered cod filet on a buttered grilled bun, with tartar sauce, lettuce, and tomato. Substitute for gorgonzola fries with Frank’s Red Hot sauce. $11.95
Bongo Johnny’s, Palm Springs CA

This sandwich was huge! I guess I didn’t pay attention when it said “two pieces” of fish, lol! Anyway, it tasty pretty good and it certainly was filling. I didn’t like their gourmet fries though. I didn’t realized that they were going to get covered with the hot sauce and gorgonzola, so they came out REALLY limp and unappetizing.

Beef panang curry – Chada Thai Cuisine

Beef panang curry - Chada Thai Cuisine
Sweet red curry with bell pepper, basil leaves and coconut milk. $8.95
Chada Thai Cuisine, Palm Springs CA

Meh, this panang curry was more yellow than I’m used to. They also added zucchini which wasn’t indicated on the menu description. It was also one of the most watery panang curries I’ve had. Another failure in my book…

Buttermilk fried chicken – Zin American Bistro

Buttermilk fried chicken - Zin American Bistro
Creamed spinach, yukon gold mashed potatoes, country gravy. $18
Zin American Bistro, Palm Springs CA

The fried chicken tasted ok, but the outside was a little limp for my taste. I like a nice, crispy coating on my fried chicken. The country gravy was also very milky and kinda bland. I liked the creamed spinach though.

Pork tocino BayRitto – Hula Truck

Pork tocino BayRitto - Hula Truck
Sweet cured pork, egg, tater tots, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, sour cream, and Hula Verde sauce. $9.50
Hula Truck, San Francisco CA

This Filipino burrito was really tasty! I loved the flavor of the pork tocino, and everything else added to the flavor party in my mouth. Albeit, this wasn’t the healthiest thing to eat, but it certainly filled me up with goodness during lunchtime.

Frozen yogurt cup – Eddie’s Frozen Yogurt

Frozen yogurt cup - Eddie's Frozen Yogurt
Topped with caramel popcorn and Heath bar. $2.30
Eddie’s Frozen Yogurt, Palm Springs CA

Ugh, this was kinda gross! All the yogurt flavors tasted super synthetic and weird. I opted for two different flavors (the least offensive ones) and only got a little bit of them. I really need a sugar fix otherwise I would have passed.

Mexican chicken caesar – Bongo Johnny’s

Mexican chicken caesar - Bongo Johnny's
Grilled chicken breast, queso fresco, romaine lettuce, pepitas, tomatoes, and housemade tri-color corn chips, tossed in garlic, olive oil, and cilantro dressing. $11.95
Bongo Johnny’s, Palm Springs CA

I enjoyed this. It was one of the few lighter items on their menu, but it didn’t lack in flavor. The chicken was also pretty tender despite my weariness of grilled whole breast because they dry out pretty quickly.
