Terre a Terre, Brighton ENGLAND

Yum! This was another amazing appetizer at Terre a Terre. And again, I didn’t even miss the meat. The KFC was fried beautifully and it just looked great with covered in the bi-colored sesame seeds and all the different components. More please!

Iberico ham sandwich – Store Cafe

Iberico ham sandwich - Store Cafe
Served with olives, fresh orange juice, and coffee with milk. €8.50
Store Cafe, Barcelona SPAIN

We were on our way to Park Guell and needed a quick meal so we ducked into Store Cafe. I loved how the ham just melted on your mouth, and how they lightly spread the bread with tomato. I don’t like it when Spanish places put too much tomato on their bread especially on their sandwich. I’m not even a sandwich person, but there is something about Spanish sandwiches that I really love.

Nachos – Mikkeller Bar

Nachos - Mikkeller Bar
Jalapenos, cheese and salsa. €5.15
Mikkeller Bar, Barcelona SPAIN

We were totally surprised by these nachos. I’ve never ordered nachos in Europe before because it seems silly to do so since there’s plenty of other food to try, but we were looking for something hot and comforting to eat with our beer. I’m glad we ordered it because these nachos were delicious! I especially loved the tapenade that they had on top. It was unexpected, and it provided a nice European flare to what we’re accustomed to in the US.

Slow roasted pork belly with crackling – Bedford Tavern

Slow roasted pork belly with crackling - Bedford Tavern
Served with roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roasted potatoes and gravy. £9.95
Bedford Tavern, Brighton ENGLAND

OMG, this Sunday roast had SO much food! I think I could only get through a quarter of this plate before I was down for the count. The pork was super tender and juicy and all the other components were cooked beautifully! The service (bartender and owner) were so great and the Tavern had a very comfortable feel to it. I would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing Sunday roast in a great atmosphere.

Pani puri – The Chilli Pickle

Pani puri - The Chilli Pickle
Mini crispy puri shells with hot and sour tamarind pepper water, herb chutney and chickpea salad. £6.75
The Chilli Pickle, Brighton ENGLAND

Again, something I’ve never had before. These were so fun to eat – filling the puri shells with the flavored water and different sauce, then popping them in your mouth. It was a burst of flavors and textures! Noms!

Arepas mojo – Terre a Terre

Arepas mojo - Terre a Terre
Deep fried sweetcorn chermoula chips served with chilli chelly jelly, avocado coriander chilli garlic hash and a fresh and zesty oregano and lime mojo. £8.95
Terre a Terre, Brighton ENGLAND

Mmm, this was SO tasty! I was a bit apprehensive when my friend said that we were going to a vegetarian restaurant (since I’m a total meat eater), but I will say that I didn’t even miss the meat. I know that’s a bit cliche to say, but it’s totally true! The fried arepas were crispy on the outside and steaming hot on the inside, and they paired perfectly with the jelly and avocado hash.

Lamb burger banh mi – Belcampo Meat Co.

Lamb burger banh mi - Belcampo Meat Co.
Ground lamb shoulder and belly, pickled carrots, daikon, jalapeno, cucumber, cilantro, sriracha mayo, fries. $17
Belcampo Meat Co., Larkspur CA

The kitchen was kind enough to split the order between two plates, and we didn’t even ask. That was cool! The burger was very tasty. I loved the lamb flavor and the patty was juicy and tender. I also liked the Vietnamese flavors. What I didn’t like was the weird ketchup. It was super sweet and kinda ruined the perfectly delicious fries.

Trout tostadas – Cala

Trout tostadas - Cala
With chipotle, avocado, and fried leeks. $16
Cala, San Francisco CA

These were pretty tasty, and I thought that the fried leeks were a great component. I thought that the texture of the trout was verging on the slimy side, but that didn’t stop me from devouring these little bites!

Assorted tacos – The Castro Republic

Assorted tacos - The Castro Republic
Heritage carnitas, adobo chicken, and beer-marinated steak. On organic corn tortilla, onion, cilantro relish, lime, and roasted tomatillo salsa. Taco Wednesday, each $2
The Castro Republic, San Francisco CA

These definitely hit the spot on a random Wednesday night. And I’m totally down with the two dollar price tag. While most places observe Taco Tuesday, they do Taco Wednesday at The Castro Republic!
