Wild boar lettuce cups – M.Y. China

Wild boar lettuce cups - M.Y. China
Red pepper, scallions, crispy noodles. $9
M.Y. China, San Francisco CA

Oh dear god, why did we come back here?! These lettuce cups were just sad and boring. It was like a typical beef stir fry thrown on some lettuce with some fried rice paper shred tossed in. The service was just as shitty this time around, the food was marginal and over-priced, and my old fashioned tasted like a disgusting piece of sweet-ass candy (and you know how much I love my bourbon drinks)! It was murky and off-color and tasted like crap. I seriously hate this place.

Old Fashioned cocktail - M.Y. China
Old Fashioned: bourbon, gum, angostura bitters, orange peel. Happy hour $7

Truffle frittes – Salty’s on Alki Beach

Truffle frittes - Salty's on Alki Beach
Shoestring fries tossed with truffle salt and parmesan reggiano. $4
Salty’s on Alki Beach, Seattle WA

These fries were actually pretty good, but it didn’t make up for the horrible hostess experience. I can forgive a lot, but not ridiculous customer services especially from a restaurant that poses as higher-end. No thank you!

Moscow Mule cocktail - Salty's on Alki Beach
Moscow Mule: American Harvest vodka, lime, mint, and ginger beer. $10

Salt cod croquettes – Mikkeller Bar

Salt cod croquettes - Mikkeller Bar
Remoulade, parsley, dill, lemon. $12
Mikkeller Bar, San Francisco CA

These croquettes were pretty delicious! You don’t find salt cod croquettes at most places so these were a treat. They were perfectly fried and the perfect with the remoulade. I definitely used all of the lemon to cut through its fried richness along with the dipping sauce. Noms!

Mikkeller Spontanfig beer - Mikkeller Bar
Mikkeller Spontanfig. Lambic-style with figs. $12
This bar is known for their sour beers, and this one was very good. It’s good to try new and different things. 🙂

Mandarin chicken breast salad – Working Girls’ Cafe

Mandarin chicken breast salad - Working Girls' Cafe
Mixed greens, chicken breast, red onion, red bell pepper, snow peas, mushrooms, mandarin oranges, peanuts, crispy noodles topped with sesame seeds and tossed in homemade oriental dressing. $9.75
Working Girls’ Cafe, San Francisco CA

I liked all the ingredients in this salad, but it was surprisingly unfulfilling flavor-wise and volume-wise. Perhaps, I’ll just never get into eating salads as entrees, even for lunch. I did ask for the dressing on the side and I also picked out the crispy noodles. Perhaps if I had it with the full fat content, I would have been more content.

Bacon havarti breakfast sandwich – Boudin Bakery and Cafe

Bacon havarti breakfast sandwich - Boudin Bakery and Cafe
With egg and served on parmesan crusted sourdough bread. $5.25
Boudin Bakery and Cafe, San Francisco CA

Mmm, I’m always pleasantly surprised with the breakfast sandwiches from Boudin. The egg has a great consistency and doesn’t taste microwave-y like those from other places. And the sourdough bread is delicious!

Fire cracker prawns – Salty’s on Alki Beach

Jumbo gulf white prawns sautéed with Korean chili paste, black garlic, shoyu and finished with cilantro, green onion and sprouts. $16
Salty’s on Alki Beach, Seattle WA

Fire cracker prawns - Salty's on Alki Beach
Ugh, this place is frickin’ ridiculous! Salty’s is one of those annoying restaurants that, besides their waterfront location, everyone wonders why it remains open. And now I can add my two cents. I had an absolutely terrible experience at Salty’s and the food is definitely overpriced for what it is.

First off, the hostess was a mess and SO unprofessional! She was an older woman, and perhaps she needs to get another job because she definitely can’t perform this one very well. The younger male host/seater was a little more professional but I couldn’t get the sour taste of my first impression out of my mouth.

The service was nice, but definitely off on timing. I sat outside, but there really isn’t a view of anything on that lame deck. This place is gross and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. What a waste of my time…

Wow, this cheese was very different and unexpected, and very yummy! The thin slices of potatoes were perfect with the creamy fonduta and I love the wonderful crust. Noms!
