Lucky Dog ranch beef shortribs – A16

Lucky Dog ranch beef shortribs - A16
Red wine, red onion, ancho cress, green peppercorns. $26
A16, San Francisco CA

Eh, I wasn’t very impressed with this dish. I felt like it could have been more rich and flavorful, and the sauce could have been a little thicker. There also wasn’t any starch or something carb-y to balance the dish. Thank goodness we ordered a side of polenta.

Seafood linguine - Firewood Cafe
Clams, prawns, calamari, salmon sautéed with garlic and olive oil in a light tomato sauce. $14.95
Firewood Cafe, San Francisco CA

I like Firewood because it’s an easy and comfortable place to grab a nice, hearty meal. The food isn’t fancy but it’s consistent and generally tasty. This pasta was good and they included a decent amount of proteins. They also give you plenty of food so I always have leftovers.

Funghi pizza – A16

Mushrooms, egg, smoked mozzarella, grana padano, dandelion greens, garlic, oregano, olive oil. $21

Wow, this pizza was amazing! The mushrooms were so flavorful and delicious, and the crust was perfect – not too thick or too thin. The smoked mozzarella added to the earthiness of the pizza and of course I had to have an egg added! 🙂

Mmm, this pasta was delicious and it had a great earthy quality. The ricotta gnocchi were perfect pillows of goodness, and it was cool that it was served with mushroom broth. I haven’t had gnocchi this way before and it was refreshing.

Fried arancini – Ragazza

Fried arancini - Ragazza
With smoked mozzarella and sun-dried tomato pesto. Banquet-style dinner
Ragazza, San Francisco CA

We came here for a friend’s birthday celebration and sat in the cool white tent located in the back patio. We had a great time with amazing friends and, of course, the food was fabulous. These arancini were delicious and perfectly cooked (not greasy at all!). The smoked mozzarella inside the fried risotto ball was gooey and flavorful, and the accompanying meat sauce was wonderful too.

I really liked this (tacky) cowboy statue at the de Young Museum, hehe! Hey, it has lots of movement! 🙂

Bolognese – Pasta Pomodoro

Bolognese - Pasta Pomodoro
Rich beef, pork and porcini mushroom sauce tossed with rigatoni, topped with shaved pecorino. Lunch epxress with casesar salad $5.50
Pasta Pomodoro, San Francisco CA

I don’t know why, but the pasta at Pasta Pomodoro is always super comforting. Maybe that’s just the power of pasta, but I don’t think so. For a local chain restaurant, Pasta Pomodoro definitely presents a very tasty product!

Bruscetta – Briscola

Bruscetta - Briscola
Fresh tomato, basil, balsamic vinaigrette reduction, olive oil. $6
Briscola, Reno NV

High end my ass! This restaurant was a joke, and the food was marginal at best. The tomatoes were over ripe and over dressed. The bread was old and so dry that they disintegrated in your mouth upon contact. Gross!

Breadsticks - Briscola
