Bleu cheese dipping sauce. $10
Escena Lounge & Grill, Palm Springs CA
These were pretty good! I liked the saucy glaze, and bleu cheese is always preferable over ranch for me! Hehe!

Rum-soaked dessert. €6.50
Napoletano’s Pantheon, Rome ITALY
This was definitely rum-y, but I really liked it! The rum flavor wasn’t too over-powering, and I liked the texture of the pastry and the cream wasn’t too heavy.

Cheese pizza with sliced mushrooms and sausage. €12
Virgilio Pizzeria, Rome ITALY
Ugh, this was probably the worst food of the trip, and the service was horrendous! This restaurant is definitely a tourist trap with horrible food!

$2.50
The Bird, San Francisco CA
I love curly fries, and these were pretty good. I wonder if they make their own or if these come frozen. Either way, they were perfectly fried and not too greasy.

Dried herbs. “Tradition” tasting menu €65
Tordomatto, Rome ITALY
There was just a single swirl of this spaghetti on the plate, but it was a satisfying one! The noodles were more al dente that I’m used to but it worked to hold up to the intense flavor of the sauce and the fine dried herbs on top. It was spaghetti like I’ve never tasted before!

Silverware place setting.

Homemade tagliatelle pasta in a bolognese sauce. €12
La Biga, Rome ITALY
This tasted fine, but that yellow light made all the food look sickly! But I guess why look at your food, when you can look out and enjoy the amazing view of the Colosseum in front of you!

Served with ranch dressing, carrots and celery. 6 pieces $8.95
Harvey’s, San Francisco CA
I suppose anything covered in buffalo wing sauce can’t be that bad. These were still on the dry side though, but I didn’t expect much at Harvey’s…

Homemade gnocchi in a classic Roman sauce with cured pig’s cheek, tomatoes and Roman pecorino. €15
Trattoria Sora Lella, Rome ITALY
These potato gnocchi were just lovely! They were fluffy enough and the sauce was killer with the pork cheeks. SO tasty!!!

Bottle of Montepulciano red wine, bruschetta, and potato chips.
BAR, Rome ITALY
This wasn’t very good, but I had to come to this place for old times sake. I went here a lot during college when I took a class in Rome. I was feeling nostalgic.

Tortilla chips, 3 cheese blend, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole. $12
Escena Lounge & Grill, Palm Springs CA
Meh… This was just REALLY dry! The steak was dry, the chips were dry, the pico was dry. It’s like this thing sat under the salamander for 15 minutes before getting topped for serving. Geez!

With mussels, clams, and shrimp. €17
Napoletano’s Pantheon, Rome ITALY
This risotto was really tasty! I thought it was going to be a throw-away dish, but they packed it with plenty of nicely cooked seafood. I would order this again in a heartbeat! Mmm…
