Peanut butter cup gelato – Tuttimelon

Peanut butter cup gelato - Tuttimelon
Rich peanut butter gelato with a fudge swirl. Small $4.50
Tuttimelon, San Francisco CA

For gelato, this didn’t have a very rich flavor or texture. It was dense and almost plastic tasting which is not a good combination. And I can’t believe that’s the smallest size they offer. If I wanted that much sugar, I’d go buy a gallon at the grocery store for the same price!

Pistachio gelato – Pozzetto

Pistachio gelato - Pozzetto
Pistacchio del re de sicilia. 4,90€
Pozzetto, Paris FR

It takes a lot of energy to walk around sightseeing on a hot day, so I totally earned this large cup of gelato! 🙂 It tasted pretty good and I liked the texture. I just wish it had a bolder pistachio flavor.

Cheesecake with blueberry swirl ice cream – Bi-Rite Creamery

Cheesecake with blueberry swirl ice cream - Bi-Rite Creamery
Oh Bi-Rite Creamery, how I still love you! You have never failed me on delicious flavors or served weird waxy ice cream. I will say that the blueberry swirl was verging on being too sweet, but the whole thing was still delicious! Kid size $2.50

Variegato amarena and Caramello al sale – D’Ambrosio Gelato

Variegato amarena and Caramello al sale - D'Ambrosio Gelato
Kirsch cherry and salted caramel gelato. Small $3.95
D’Ambrosio Gelato, Seattle WA

This gelato had a very creamy texture. I liked the cherry flavor more than the salted caramel which is surprising. I think the salted caramel had an odd waxy texture that I didn’t like.

Maple and brown sugar pumpkin ice cream – Smitten

Maple and brown sugar pumpkin ice cream - Smitten
4 oz small $4.75
Smitten, San Francisco CA

Sheesh, this ice cream isn’t cheap! Part of the reason is that they make the ice cream to-order in a cool machine using liquid nitrogen (kinda fun to watch). The resulting ice cream is very flavorful and has a great, smooth texture. Is it worth it? Maybe as a rare special treat.

Rich’s banana split – Leatherby’s Family Creamery

Rich's banana split - Leatherby's Family Creamery
Chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate, strawberry and pineapple sauces, whipped cream, nuts and cherry on a whole banana. $9.29
Leatherby’s Family Creamery, Sacramento CA

Rich's banana split - Leatherby's Family Creamery

I heard good things about this place from friends who grew up in the area. The sundaes and treats are gigantic, but honestly I wasn’t impressed. The ice cream didn’t taste special and the toppings, although there was plenty of them, were generic and common. Good for Leatherby’s to keep the soda fountain alive, but I think that I’ll splurge on my sweet calories elsewhere. The service was young and lacking, and the experience was mundane and uneventful. I felt no joy during my visit which is unfortunate because that’s exactly was an old-school soda fountain should evoke. Kinda sad.

Sweet summer corn ice cream – Humphry Slocombe

Sweet summer corn ice cream - Humphry Slocombe
This had great flavor, but I was disappointed by its texture. It wasn’t waxy like some of the other scoops I’ve had here, but it was icy and very crumbly. Humphry Slocombe seems to be very inconsistent with their ice cream and I haven’t been blown away during any of my recent visits. Single scoop $3.25

Peanut brittle and brown sugar cookie – Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous

Peanut brittle and brown sugar cookie - Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous
With sea salt. $2.50
Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous, San Francisco CA

It may be a little difficult to tell from the pic, but this cookie is actually pretty sizable. And DELICIOUS! I’ve got to say that this was probably the best cookie I’ve had in a while! SO good!

Crema Catalana ice cream – Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous

Crema Catalana ice cream - Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous
Lime custard with citrus caramel. Single $3.50
Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous, San Francisco CA

Wow, this was SO amazing! The lime custard flavored ice cream was light and delicate but still very flavorful, and the citrus caramel was such a great surprise. It was gooey and runny and SO frickin’ yummy! Well done, Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous!

Driving towards San Francisco on the Bay Bridge. While not as popular or well known as the Golden Gate, I still enjoy driving back on the Bay Bridge and being welomed by the downtown skyline.
