Southern Orange cocktail - Poogan's Porch

This cocktail was very refreshing! I thought it might be a little strong because of the whiskey, but the addition of oj, triple sec and ginger ale kept the flavors light and sweet. Mmm, very good!

Fort Moultrie, Sullivan's Island

Heavy wooden door against yellow walls, Fort Moultrie, Sullivan’s Island. This was the door leading to the powder room in this historic fort. The grounds are super clean and very pretty.

Firefly is a local distillery that’s known for their sweet tea flavored vodka. Most of the restaurants in the Charleston area have some kind of drink that uses it. I liked this sweet tea martini at the Wentworth Grill. It was on the sweet side, but was nicely made and super cold. Heck yeah!

Strings of light, Mad River Bar

This restaurant was recommended by a friend, so I arrived for an early dinner expecting great service and delicious food. I can tell you right now, that I received both! This cocktail was a great way to start off my meal. It was bright and refreshing tasting and had a beautiful peach-pink color.

Bar area - McCrady's Restaurant

The restaurant had just opened so I choose a table facing the bar so that I could people-watch as my meal progressed. The bar was quite tall, extending up to the open second floor and appeared cozy and warm from all the rich woods and leather.

Red-orange roses (Rosa sp., Rosaceae), Gundlach Bundschu Winery
Beautiful red-orange roses (Rosa sp., Rosaceae), Gundlach Bundschu Winery. This was my favorite winery of this Sonoma trip. The wine was delicious and the lady behind the bar was SO helpful and friendly.

Bloody mary – Farley Bar

Bloody mary - Farley Bar

Vodka and tomato juice cocktail, garnished with olive, onion, caper berry and lime. $10
Farley Bar, Sausalito CA

The bloody mary was very good, but it was also a bloody mary from the other table that the waitress spilled all over the table, my leg and shoes! I wasn’t mad, but an apology (or some form of acknowledgement) would have been nice. And extra napkins to wipe it up, geez!

Mimosa – Farley Bar

Mimosa - Farley Bar

Sparkling wine with fresh squeezed orange juice. $10
Farley Bar, Sausalito CA

We decided to have a quick Sonoma weekend trip and stopped to have brunch at Farley Bar on the drive up. The food and drinks were really good, but one of the waitresses spilled drinks for the table next to us and totally stained by white deck shoes. I was SO annoyed but decided not to let it ruin my experience. She apologized to the other table, but didn’t mention anything to me. RUDE!

Specialty cocktail and pretzels - Virgin Atlantic
A tasty fusion of fruit juices and vodka, Penn State sour cream and chive flavour mini pretzels. Complimentary
London (LHR) to San Francisco (SFO), Virgin Atlantic

This was the “welcome” snack as we departed London. I think they offer you vodka even in Economy so you can calm down, fall asleep, and not bother the airline attendants. I watched more movies on this flight than I would normally watch over 4 months, lol!

Plane ride home from London

Bye, bye London! On the plane headed home and dreading the 9+ hour flight.

London Bridge sign. This isn’t the prettiest bridge on the River Thames, but I guess I had to walk on it to check it off the list.
