With basil and arugula sauce and pine nuts. $14
Lolo, San Francisco CA
This was very different and I thought it was yummy. The huitlacoche was bitter and I’m not sure it’s a flavor for everyone, but I liked it. I always enjoy trying new things!

Chiffonade Tuscan kale and romaine lettuce, all natural diced chicken, grated Parmesan cheese, creamy Caesar dressing with sourdough garlic crisps. $8.59
Boudin Bakery and Cafe, San Francisco CA
My favorite part of the salads at Boudin are the sourdough garlic crisps – kinda fitting. 🙂 The addition of kale to this caesar was a nice change of pace.

Blue corn masa, avocado puree and habanero crema. $11
Lolo, San Francisco CA
These were very cool and different. I thought that the squid ink in the sope was too overpowering though. I like squid ink, but they must have added A LOT of it into the masa. Otherwise, I thought it was a fun dish.

Spiced-potato patty, chutneys, caramelized onions and “gunpowder” – ground chiles and lentils, with side salad. Happy hour $7
Dosa, San Francisco CA
I really liked this slider. The potato patty was delicious, but I was perplexed by the “gunpowder”. I really didn’t know how to eat it. I tried dipping the slider into it, but it was just dry and odd.

With brown rice and hot curry. $9.45
Muracci’s Japanese Curry & Grill, San Francisco CA
I’m loving Muracci’s for a delicious lunch. It gets pretty busy in there so I always try to get there early to beat the crowds. The hot curry is my favorite and the beef slices were still tender.

With turnips and creme fraiche. Family-style dinner, $65 per person
The Progress, San Francisco CA
I know you can’t really see it, but the snapper is actually underneath the turnip slices. The fish was light and tasty and great with the crispy cracker and creme fraiche.

Tamal de pollo served with baguette slices. $3.75
Balompie Cafe #3, San Francisco CA

I really liked the soft texture of the tamal, but I was really confused by the dry pieces of bread that came with it. The tamal was very flavorful and super cheap too, yay!
