1/4 chicken (white meat) plate – El Pollon

1/4 chicken (white meat) plate - El Pollon
With fried yuca and onion and tomato salad. $5.99
El Pollon, Ranson WV

Mmm, I love Peruvian rotisserie chicken. This was very flavorful, but the breast meat was a bit dry. That’s what I get for opting for the white meat. I loved the sides though, especially the onion and tomato salad. The fried yuca was also good and not greasy.

Chicken strips combo – Roy Rogers

Chicken strips combo - Roy Rogers
3 pieces, mashed potatoes, regular soda. $6.19
Roy Rogers, Ranson WV

Mmm, I liked these chicken strips. The breading was tasty and it wasn’t greasy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were tasty, and I also liked their bbq dipping sauce. This was my first time at a Roy Rogers and I’ll say that it was pretty good.

Special-dilla – California Tortilla

Special-dilla - California Tortilla
Jack cheese and blackened chicken, black beans and spinach, Served with sour cream and salsa. $7.39
California Tortilla, Ranson WV

I actually liked this. The grilled tortilla and the chicken were a bit dry but I liked the simplicity of it. There wasn’t any frou frou ingredients to get in the way.

Fish taco fresh deal – California Tortilla

Fish taco fresh deal - California Tortilla
Two blackened fish tacos with cabbage slaw, lime, cilantro and chipotle sour cream. Served with a side of guacamole and chips and a drink. $8.97
California Tortilla, Ranson WV

These tacos were surprisingly decent. I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first time at a California Tortilla, but I thought they were pretty good. The fish tasted fine (although they were a bit small) and the cabbage slaw was nice and bright.

Chicken and fish combo – Long John Silver’s

Chicken and fish combo - Long John Silver's
Served with fries, 2 hushpuppies, and drink.
Long John Silver’s, Charles Town WV

I was a bit confused when I received this because I couldn’t tell which piece was fish and which was the chicken. They looked exactly the same. And oddly enough, they tasted the same too, and were disgustingly greasy. I don’t think I’ll ever order this again or even return to a Long John Silver’s. Even the hushpuppies were super greasy. At least the fries were good.

The Gulch panini – Whiskey Gulch Coffee Co.

The Gulch panini - Whiskey Gulch Coffee Co.
Ham, whiskey cheddar, apple butter and stone ground mustard on focaccia, served with side salad. $9.45
Whiskey Gulch Coffee Co., Port Orchard WA

This sandwich was good, but there was A LOT of cheese. I like cheese as much as the next guy, but there has to be come balance when it comes to a sandwich (except for a super cheesy grilled cheese perhaps). The flavors were good though and the salad was great.

Chicken tikka brown rice bowl – Tava Indian Kitchen

Chicken tikka brown rice bowl - Tava Indian Kitchen
All natural hormone-free chicken marinated in tandoori spices, light tomato cream sauce simmered with Indian spices. $7.50
Tava Indian Kitchen, San Francisco CA

This place is like an Indian version of Chipotle. You choose you toppings and build your bowl, salad, or burroti. Anyway, I didn’t like it. It was mostly rice and not enough of anything else. Their scoops for the meat are tiny so there’s practically no chicken in there. You do get to choose as many sauces you want, but who cares if there’s no meat to eat it with. I need more meat!

Wild Pacific salmon and kale salad – Boudin Bakery and Cafe

Wild Pacific salmon and kale salad - Boudin Bakery and Cafe
Soba noodles, tuscan kale, mixed greens, sliced cucumber, diced red bell pepper, fresh oranges, cilantro, sweet asian chili glaze, sesame seeds, sesame ginger vinaigrette dressing. $10.29
Boudin Bakery and Cafe, San Francisco CA

Ugh, I did NOT like this salad. There was more soba noodles than kale, and the salmon was gross! It was definitely delivered frozen and it had a disgusting squishy texture with a slimy glaze. Yuck!

Roasted pork loin sandwich – A.G. Ferrari

Roasted pork loin sandwich - A.G. Ferrari
Pecorino romano cheese, fresh arugula, garlic aioli, tomatoes on focaccia. Added olive tapenade and had it toasted. $8.99
A.G. Ferrari, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this sandwich was delicious! I’ve always had my sandwiches pressed at A.G. Ferrari because they’re always better warm and gooey. Even if the sandwich traditionally uses a different type of bread, I’ll request it on focaccia and have it pressed.

Macaroni salad - A.G. Ferrari
Side of macaroni salad. I’m loving the tiny macaroni pasta.

Lamb and beef gyro platter – Gryo King

Lamb and beef gyro platter - Gryo King
Served with rice, salad, hummus, tzatziki sauce and homemade bread. $10.95
Gyro King, San Francisco CA

This was pretty good. I wish there was less rice and more hummus though. The bread was also different from most kinds that you get with gyro plates. You usually get pitas or lavash, but this was more of a proper bread. It was tasty and I liked its texture. The gyro meat was nice and tender and very flavorful.
