Mmm, I love the Japanese bowls at Bamboo Asia. The fish are usually pretty fresh and they have a good selection of toppings and sauces.

Hot curry udon – Muracci’s Japanese Curry & Grill

Hot curry udon - Muracci's Japanese Curry & Grill
Sliced angus beef, onion, green onion, udon, Muracci’s curry soup. $11.95
Muracci’s Japanese Curry & Grill, San Francisco CA

This was on the heavy side, but it was pretty tasty. I wish there was more udon noodles in there though, but I was glad that there was a good amount of sliced beef. Yum!

Kara miso cha-shu ramen – Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

Kara miso cha-shu ramen - Hokkaido Ramen Santouka
Spicy miso ramen with double portion of pork cha-shu. $15.80
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, Toronto CANADA

This was tasty! I loved the spice level of the broth, and the ingredients were great. The ramen noodles also had a nice bite to them. I just wished the chasiu was cut a little thinner so it would’ve been easier to eat. These were pretty thick and harder to eat.

Original cheesecake – Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Angel Cafe

Original cheesecake - Uncle Tetsu's Japanese Angel Cafe
Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Angel Cafe, Toronto CANADA

This was the first time I’d had Japanese cheesecake, and it really tasty and fun! I loved the super light and jiggly texture. It was so fluffy and airy that I could have probably eaten the whole thing! I would definitely eat this again. 🙂

Tori paitan ramen – Mensho Tokyo

Tori paitan ramen - Mensho Tokyo
Rich and creamy chicken soup, pork chashu, duck chashu, menma, kale, burdock, katsuobushi sauce. Double chashu $18
Mensho Tokyo, San Francisco CA

Overall,  I thought this place was overrated – especially for the price! I will admit that this tori paitan broth was delicious. I loved how rich and fatty it was, but I’m sure it’s not for everyone. I thought that the topping were mediocre though. Both the chasu pork and duck were bland and boring, and the other toppings were kept to a minimum. You think they’ve give you a bit more for almost 20 bucks for this slightly small bowl. Meh, wouldn’t go back.

Beef curry – Muracci’s Japanese Curry & Grill

Beef curry - Muracci's Japanese Curry & Grill
With brown rice and hot curry. $10.45
Muracci’s Japanese Curry & Grill, San Francisco CA

The price has gone up a dollar since I was last purchased this dish. That’s not insignificant for lunch prices in the FiDi. The food is still pretty good, and I crave Japanese curry every once in a while I will say that the cuts of beef that I got this time around were sinewy and kinda tough.
