This ramen was pretty good, especially since I love spicy soups. The noodles were good and I liked the Korean style ingredient. This definitely hit the spot.

Endives, capers, parsley and lemon. $65
Cockscomb, San Francisco CA

Wood oven roasted pig's head - Cockscomb
Half a roasted pig’s head? Are you kidding me! This was SO amazing, and surprisingly more meaty than I thought it would be. The pork skin was SO crispy, fatty, and delicious and there was so much meat underneath. It was almost like Christmas and opening a present at the table. NOMS! Oooh, and thank goodness for the endives to help cut all that fatty deliciousness.

Emerald fire noodles – Slurp Noodle Bar

Emerald fire noodles - Slurp Noodle Bar
Spinach wheat noodle, chicken, pea shoots, tofu, sprouts, herbs, spicy curry, sauce, toasted peanuts. $11.95
Slurp Noodle Bar, San Francisco CA

Meh, I wasn’t too impressed by this dish. The chicken was a little overcooked and the flavors of the dish were a bit bland and muted. I thought that this was going to hit you in the face with bold flavors, but that wasn’t the case. I mean, it IS called emerald fire!

Kurobuta pork belly steamed buns – Slurp Noodle Bar

Kurobuta pork belly steamed buns - Slurp Noodle Bar
Shaoxing wine reduction, scallions, fried shallots. $7.50
Slurp Noodle Bar, San Francisco CA

The flavors in these buns were great, but I wished the components were executed a bit better. The pork belly was nice and fatty but could have been more tender. The buns were also on the dry and chewy side.

Chicken asada super nachos – La Tortilla

Chicken asada super nachos - La Tortilla
Tortilla chips topped with grilled chicken, black beans, cheese, spicy salsa, guacamole and sour cream. $7.75
La Tortilla, San Francisco

Hmm, I wasn’t impressed with these nachos this time around. The chicken asada was on the dry side and kinda salty. Perhaps I should stick with the other protein options…
