Sea urchin – Monsieur Benjamin

Sea urchin - Monsieur Benjamin
Uni with white verjus. $14
Monsieur Benjamin, San Francisco CA

This was a lot of uni for me. As a sea urchin novice, I’m still trying to appreciate the taste and texture of this delicacy. I’ve had some bad uni in the past, so I’m always hesitant and sometimes scared to try more. I felt like Monsieur Benjamin wouldn’t serve bad quality uni, so I gave it a go. It tasted great, but some of the pieces were on the verge of too slimy for me. I probably would have been happy with just the piece on top.

Yam soup – Laurel Court Restaurant

Yam soup - Laurel Court Restaurant
Prix fix $45
Laurel Court Restaurant, San Francisco CA

The food and service here were good overall, but I cannot forget or forgive the horrendous behavior from the jerk of a host! He completely ruined our experience and so we will never return to this Laurel Court.

Davies Family, Pinot Noir, Sonoma. $15

Chicken mole super nachos – Zapata Mexican Grill

Chicken mole super nachos - Zapata Mexican Grill
Chicken mole, refried beans, cheese, guacamole, sour cream and salsa. $10.95
Zapata Mexican Grill, San Francisco CA

I’m a bit weird in that I like my nachos super saucy so that’s why I often choose the simmering meats for my nachos. Chicken mole is always a good bet because its so flavorful and the mole is great at softening the tortilla chips.

Anchor Oyster is such a great neighborhood seafood restaurant! The place is super small and they don’t take reservations so you just place your name of the list and wait for the next table. These oyster were expertly shucked, fresh and delicious!
