Organic nectarine "Pop Tart" - Foreign Cinema
Wow, I was surprised at how light and delicate this pastry was. The crust was super thin and flaky and the fruit filling wasn’t too sweet. There was a wonderful caramel-y quality to the whole thing. It was absolutely delicous!

Old school movie speakers - Foreign Cinema
The restaurant actually projects old movies in the back patio so they have these old school speakers surrounding the courtyard.

S’mores pie – McDonald’s

S'mores pie - McDonald's
Rich chocolate and decadent marshmallow fillings baked side-by-side in a sweet, graham cracker crust.
McDonald’s, South San Francisco CA

S'mores pie - McDonald's
Yuck! I did not enjoy this. The chocolate and marshmallow fillings oddly had the same weird, spongey texture. You could taste how processed it was, and the flavors weren’t even that good.

S'mores pie - McDonald's
I always feel that I should try new fast food products so I can personally know if they’re any good, but maybe I shoudl rethink that…

Fresh raspberry tart – Tartine Bakery

Fresh raspberry tart - Tartine Bakery
I will admit this was delicious, but I had buyers remorse after paying almost $7 for it. I guess if I had split it with someone I could have rationalized a $3.25 slice, but I’m kind of a greedy vittle monster, lol! Seriously though, it was pretty damn tasty!

Les Miserables at the Orpheum Theatre

Les Miserables at the Orpheum Theatre, Market Street. Earlier this summer, I finally got to see this amazing musical for the first time! I’ve had the PBS anniversary soundtrack since forever and I know all the music so it was such a treat to finally see the production on stage. Of course I enjoyed it immensely and cried 4 or 5 times, lol!

Blackberry cheesecake – 17 North Roadside Kitchen

Blackberry cheesecake - 17 North Roadside Kitchen
Because the lights had gone out in the restaurant midway through dinner, the place was pretty dark by the end of our meal so a co-worker offered his cell phone light so I could take a photo of dessert, lol! Take my word that there is a blackberry sauce underneath that’s obscured by the shadow. The cheesecake was ok, but was more crumbly than I like. Three course dinner $30

Beach on Sullivan's Island
Beach on Sullivan’s Island. I know you can’t tell from the pic, but there were actually quite a few people out on the beach enjoying the weather that day.

South Carolina peaches - McCrady's Restaurant
This was a wonderful way to end a marvelous meal! Since I totally ordered on the “heavy” side for the previous courses, this light and refreshing dessert was just what I needed. The shiso biscuit and leaves were delightful and tasted great with the peaches and sorbet. Mmm, noms!

Window planter with leopard plant (Ligularia sp., Asteraceae)

Beautiful window planter with a hardy leopard plant (Ligularia sp., Asteraceae). This planter was a few doors down from McCrady’s and the Ligularia was absolutely stunning with it’s large, shiny green leaves and small yellow composite flowers.

Marble black raspberry ice cream – Scoopful Ice Cream

Yellow mullein flowers (Verbascum thapsus, Scrophulariaceae)

Yellow mullein flowers (Verbascum thapsus, Scrophulariaceae), West Field Road. I love that they included these beautiful biennial plants in the dry-scaping along this road. The large, silvery tomentose leaves are lovely as are its tall, majestic spike inflorescences.

Scoopful Ice Cream storefront. The ice cream here was pretty good, but the lady behind the counter seemed more interested in watching tv than helping customers. Lame!

Blue Bottle Vietnamese coffee ice cream – Humphry Slocombe

Blue Bottle Vietnamese coffee ice cream - Humphry Slocombe
I’ve had this flavor 4 or 5 times now from their storefront and it’s STILL waxy! I’m so disappointed with the texture but it does have a great coffee flavor. Single scoop $3.25

Rhubarb ice cream – Bi-Rite Creamery

Rhubarb cream - Bi-Rite Creamery
We used to grow rhubarb for sale growing up, but I only ever had it in pies or crumbles and usually mixed with a fruit of some kind. This ice cream tasted good, but I wish it had a punchier rhubard flavor. I remember rhubarb having a slight sourness that this ice cream lacked. Kid size $2.50
Bi-Rite Creamery, San Francisco

Southbound on the Golden Gate Bridge. And that brings us to the end of our little Sonoma trip. We had a blast and should really make it up to wine country more often since it’s SO close to The City!
