Triple “C” wings – Mama Ji’s

Triple "C" wings - Mama Ji's
Crispy, caramelized, chili wings. $12.95
Mama Ji’s, San Francisco CA

These wings were great! They were sticky and packed with flavor. What wasn’t great was the slow-ass service at this place. I could have butchered my own chicken and cooked it myself before this arrived at the table.

Deviled eggs – Causwells

Deviled eggs - Causwells
Smoked salmon, paprika, and mustard. $6.25
Causwells, San Francisco CA

I ordered this for delivery and it looked pretty unappetizing upon arrival. They also didn’t taste the freshest. What was I thinking? The smoked salmon pieces were also rough and ugly looking on top.

Fried rice – Thai House Express

Fried rice - Thai House Express
Side $5
Thai House Express, San Francisco CA

This was good. I liked that it wasn’t dry and I liked that there was plenty of scrambled eggs. Definitely better than their dry-ish steamed rice.

Agneau a l'indienne - Le Zinc
Lamb loin, basmati rice, Madras curry sauce. $26
Le Zinc, San Francisco CA

I actually really liked this lamb dish! I thought that the Indian curry was great with the beautifully cooked lamb (and what a large cut it was!). I wanted trying something other than the French standards and I’m glad I did.

Deep fried meat dumpling - Good Mong Kok Bakery
Good Mong Kok Bakery, San Francisco CA

I wasn’t sure if I’d like this, but it was pretty awesome. The outside was nice and crispy and beautifully fried. The gummy rice dough had a pleasant firmness and cradled a yummy meat filling.

Blistered and smoked brassicas – Al’s Place

Blistered and smoked brassicas - Al's Place
Brocamole, burrata, pink lady vinegar. Family style menu, $60 per person
Al’s Place, San Francisco CA

Meh, I don’t know if I really enjoyed this. I liked the individual components, but they just didn’t all come together to make a deliciously harmonious plate. And again with the side-plating, ugh!

Acapella goat cheese - Farmshop
Adante Dairy, Petaluma. Served with blackberry honeycomb and walnut currant baguette. $11
Farmshop, Larkspur CA

This cheese was pretty tasty, but I think that the blackberry honey was my favorite part. It was SO flavorful and tastes great with the cheese and bread.

Admiral cocktail - Farmshop
Admiral: Templeton rye, ginger shrub, lemon, barrel aged bitters, honey.

Jalea - Fresca
Lima style fried calamari, shrimp, scallop and fish, yuca, cancha, huacatay tartar sauce. $15
Fresca, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this was great! I loved the breading of the fried seafood, and everything was still tender and juicy. I’ll definitely order this again in the future.

Fudgy yolk, lettuces, peas, spring onion. Tasting menu $155

Mmm, another delicious and beautifully plated dish! This was SO creative and I could never have imagine this combination of ingredients, but it was truly lovely.

Kung pao shrimp - Mama Ji's
$13.95
Mama Ji’s, San Francisco CA

I will never dine in at this restaurant ever again! The wait for your food is excruciatingly long especially when you’re constantly seeing a parade of take-out and delivery orders leave through the door. You’re left starving and frustrated so you really can’t enjoy your food.

Ma kuer with chicken - Thai House Express
Sauteed eggplant, bell pepper, bean sauce and fresh basil. $12
Thai House Express, San Francisco CA

This was decent. Surprisingly, it was on the bland side, but I thought that the chicken breast slices were nice and tender. I would have liked some heat or at least more flavor though.

Escargots – Le Zinc

Escargots - Le Zinc
Snails on potato canapes, porcini, garlic butter sauce. $14
Le Zinc, San Francisco CA

This was delicious. I liked how they served the escargots atop the potato medallions. I just wish there was enough potatoes for all of the snails. They had a large pile of escargots on one side that was a bit too rich to eat without the starchy potatoes.
