Corned beef hash – Luna Park

Corned beef hash - Luna Park
Shredded beef with roasted root vegetables and topped with eggs over easy. $14.25
Luna Park, San Francisco CA

This dish was a disappointment. And let’s be honest, these eggs were fried – not over easy, not over medium or even over hard! They were fried and dry. Perhaps they kept cooking to a crisp under the warmer since the service was uber slow. This brunch was kind of a failure.

Smoked salmon smorrebrod – Fog City

Smoked salmon smorrebrod - Fog City
Danish open-faced sandwich on sourdough rye seed bread, smoked egg salad, Will’s avocado, pickled peppers, fresh herbs. $17
Fog City, San Francisco CA

Wow, I loved everything about this sandwich. It was beautiful and absolutely delicious and fun to eat. The combination of flavors and textures was great, and it was fun to eat. I liked the dark, dense bread and the smoked salmon was tasty and beautifully colored. Noms!

Derby cocktail - Fog City
Derby: Four Roses bourbon, carpano antica, combier, lime, maple. $11

“Longhorn” Texas breakfast tacos – Luna Park

Longhorn Texas breakfast tacos - Luna Park
With eggs, potatoes, cheese, salsa and house made chorizo. $12.95
Luna Park, San Francisco CA

Meh, I wasn’t impressed with these tacos. They were as white and vanilla as they get. And although the tortillas were warm(ish), the tacos just seemed lackluster. Perhaps they could have been grilled or seared on the flattop or something to bump up the interest.

Duo of ahi tuna – Marlowe

Duo of ahi tuna - Marlowe
Carpaccio and conserva, English cucumber remoulade, apples, olive and anise hyssop. $14
Marlowe, San Francisco CA

I liked this dish, but the tuna conserva got a little bit lost perhaps because there was little of it. The tuna carpaccio was definitely the main star of this dish but all the components were very good. And oh what a delicious dish it was. Noms!

Saigon dip – Fog City

Saigon dip - Fog City
Shaved roasted pork, spicy pickled vegetables, chili aioli, cilantro, pho dipping broth. $17
Fog City, San Francisco CA

This sandwich was good, but really vanilla. The flavors were too subtle and even the pho broth was bland. The ingredients read like you’re gonna get a party in your mouth, but it quickly became a snoozefest. 😦

Manhattan cocktail - Fog City
Manhattan. $10.50

Buffalo milk cheesecake – Boulevard

Buffalo milk cheesecake - Boulevard
Huckleberry conserva, graham cracker twists, almond parsley crumble, shinko pear with moscata. $10.50
Boulevard, San Francisco CA

I was intrigued when I saw the buffalo milk on the menu so I had to order this dessert. The cheesecake was certainly different – it was more dense but perhaps creamier than your typical cheesecake. And again, the components put it over the edge. The combination of the huckleberry conserve and pear globes, with the crispy twists and airy crumble was SO much fun. Noms!

Wimbledon Shrub cocktail - Boulevard
Wimbledon Shrub: Pimms, housemade strawberry shrub, fresh lemon juice, Sprite, served over ice. $13

Cocktails – Butterfly Restaurant

Kumquat margarita cocktail - Butterfly Restaurant
Kumquat margarita: Tapatio tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, agave nectar. $10
Butterfly Restaurant, San Francisco CA

Was volunteering on the Embarcadero so we ducked into Butterfly during one of our breaks for a few drinks. Our bartender was awesome and really friendly so we had a good time relaxing at the bar and enjoying the sunny weather.

Vodka soda cocktail - Butterfly Restaurant
Vodka and soda.

Enchiladas combo – Chevys Fresh Mex

Enchiladas combo - Chevys Fresh Mex
Salsa chicken with New Mexico red chile sauce, picadillo beef with meat sauce, served with black beans, rice, salad, and sweet corn tomalito. $11.79
Chevys Fresh Mex, San Francisco CA

Mmm, enchiladas are my favorite. These were ok, but the plate was large and filled me up (I actually didn’t finish and took the rest to-go). I do love their little sweet corn cakes though. I’m sure its all butter and oil, but that’s why they taste so good.

Strawberry lemonade - Chevys Fresh Mex
Strawberry lemonade. $2.99
