With maple syrup/Makers Mark glaze. 3 pieces $5.75
The Sycamore, San Francisco CA
These donuts sounded good, but they actually weren’t very good. The batter was heavy and the donuts were greasy. The glaze was also too sweet.

United Nations Plaza.

Roasted leeks, tomatoes, watercress, charon croutons, bone marrow vinaigrette. $37
Etoile, Yountville CA
The beef was tender and flavorful, but the charon croutons were my favorite part. The bone marrow vinaigrette was also lovely.

Domaine Chandon.

1/3 rack baby back ribs, 1/4 lb pulled pork, served with macaroni and cheese and corn bread. $16
Baby Blues BBQ, San Francisco CA
This was at the end of a day of birthday drinking with friends so I really can’t speak to the food so much, lol! I think it was good though… 🙂

Marisol: Portrait of Georgia O’Keefe statue, Sydney G. Walton Square.

Bulleit bourbon, Swedish punch, amaro, Angostura bitters, lemon. $11
Urban Putt, San Francisco CA
This is a pretty cool putt-putt place in San Francisco. Yeah, it’s small and indoors but there aren’t many putt-putt options within the city proper. I had a great time and you can get your drink on at the bar beforehand. I think it loosened me up because I ended up beating all my friends, lol!

Urban Putt. One of their creative holes.

Corn puree, caramelized figs, pickled watermelon rinds. $15
Boxing Room, San Francisco CA
I liked the flavors in the dish, and the pork belly was tasty BUT it was way too fatty! The pieces of pork belly were pretty much slabs of fat with very little meat on them. I think this is the first time that I couldn’t finish pork belly. I just left the huge chunks of fat on the plate.

Fabaceae family, Noe Valley.

Belgian-style waffle filled with prosciutto and manchego cheese, topped with fried chicken drizzled with maple syrup/Makers Mark, blueberry, strawberry. $10.75
The Sycamore, San Francisco CA
This dish read much more exciting than it actually was. The chicken was actually chicken nuggets and each piece of waffle was actually just a quarter piece. The waffle itself wasn’t very Belgian-style either. It didn’t have the right texture and airiness. The whiskey maple syrup was also too sweet for my taste. I was disappointed.

Memorial graffiti mural, Mission.

Nettles, heirloom beans, smoked clam nage, piment d’espellette. $33
Etoile, Yountville CA
This was a very clean tasting dish. The halibut was cooked nicely and the other ingredients were lovely. I don’t know that I was amazed by this dish though. Nothing about it was particularly exciting. That said, it was still tasty.

Domaine Chandon.

Malbec braised short ribs, caramelized onion, chimichurri. $4
El Sur, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this empanada was delicious! The crust was delicately thin and buttery and the filling was simply delicious. The meat was tender and the caramelized onions were perfect. Noms!

Fish sculpture, Embarcardero.

2 pieces $5.95
Kingdom of Dumpling, San Francisco CA
We weren’t sure what we were gonna get when we ordered this. I kind of imagine that it would the kind of pancake that you get with moo shu pork or something. Instead, these were really thin dry, almost cracker-like, pancakes filled with strip of beef. They were actually really good!

Pink flowers, Noe Valley.

Creole remoulade, lemon. $13
Boxing Room, San Francisco CA
I thought maybe the alligator would be tough and dry, but it really wasn’t. The breading was delicious and it was fried perfectly. I’m not sure that I could really taste and describe the gator apart from the breading and frying oil, but the whole thing tasted great to me.

Gamay Noir, Champier Buissonnate, Beaujolais Villages, France. 2012. Glass $11.50

Sidewalk stencil.

Cheddar mayo, lettuce, onion, pickle, roasted bone marrow. $11
Kronner Burger, San Francisco CA
This business actually sucks. They once had a storefront on Mission Street, but they would hold odd hours and wouldn’t open when they felt like it – SO annoying. I went there once and waited outside with 8 other people before we all realized that they probably weren’t going to open that day. I think that’s just a shady and disrespectful business practice.
Anyway I only bought this burger because I wanted to check it off my 7×7 list and they were at the Mission Street Food Festival. That said, the burger with bone marrow was pretty damn delicious.

Kronner Burger door that never opened! Lame.
