Chilaquiles – Luna Park

Chilaquiles - Luna Park
Tortilla chips, eggs, beans, queso fresco, salsa fresca. $13.95
Luna Park, San Francisco CA

There was certainly a lot of food on this plate! I just wish it tasted a little better. The sauce was on the bland side and the eggs were on the verge of being overcooked. It’s a great value, but probably one I wouldn’t order again.

Veal and ricotta meatballs – Alicante

Veal and ricotta meatballs - Alicante
Spaghetti, tomato, parmigiano-reggiano cheese, basil. Half order $8
Alicante, Palm Springs CA

A half order only got you one meatball which was kinda lame, but the singular meatball was tasty and tender. Still, it’s all pasta and the meatball just looked lonely so I don’t think I’d order this again.

Chocolate cremeux – Jardiniere

Chocolate cremeux - Jardiniere
Cherry, chicory ice cream. Tasting menu $140
Jardiniere, San Francisco CA

The dense, decadent chocolate cremeux was delicious and paired wonderfully with the cherries. The chicory ice cream had a restrained flavor that wasn’t overly herbal. I thought the dessert was well balanced and had a nice variety of textures.

Barbecued pork fried rice – Jade Cafe

Barbecued pork fried rice - Jade Cafe
Peas, onion, egg, carrot, scallions. $5.80
Jade Cafe, San Francisco CA

This rice was SO frickin’ dry! I’ve made fried rice plenty of times so I know that it’s best made with older-made rice that has had time to dry out a bit. But this rice was pretty inedible. The rice was probably many days old because the grains were so tough and chewy. GROSS!
