Blue Bottle Vietnamese coffee ice cream – Humphry Slocombe

Blue Bottle Vietnamese coffee ice cream - Humphry Slocombe
I’ve had this flavor 4 or 5 times now from their storefront and it’s STILL waxy! I’m so disappointed with the texture but it does have a great coffee flavor. Single scoop $3.25

Rhubarb ice cream – Bi-Rite Creamery

Rhubarb cream - Bi-Rite Creamery
We used to grow rhubarb for sale growing up, but I only ever had it in pies or crumbles and usually mixed with a fruit of some kind. This ice cream tasted good, but I wish it had a punchier rhubard flavor. I remember rhubarb having a slight sourness that this ice cream lacked. Kid size $2.50

“Pashen” graffiti mural, Osage Street. Ok, I’m not actually sure what this says, but that’s my best guess. It’s very colorful and pretty though.

Deer Tracks ice cream – Ice Cream Etc.

Deer Tracks ice cream - Ice Cream Etc.
Vanilla ice cream with miniature peanut butter cups and thick fudge. Junior scoop $2

This ice cream was super sweet and rich. Maybe too sweet and rich for me. Not a fan…

Propeller Club Memorial Fountain, USS Savannah Marker. I came across this fountain on the riverside walk along the Savannah River off W River Street. There’s a lot to see and do along this walk and the breeze along the river makes for a pleasant stroll.

Vanilla soft ice cream – Josef Ice Cream Van

Vanilla soft ice cream - Josef Ice Cream Van

Callestick Farm Cornish dairy soft ice cream served with a chocolate stick. Small £2.30
Josef Ice Cream Van, London ENGLAND

The day got surprisingly warm so we took an ice cream break at the Joseph Ice Cream Van parked along the Tower of London. The soft serve ice cream was SUPER airy and whippy! The chocolate stick was odd in that it’s really a compressed chocolate ribbon making it light and crumbly. Ahhh, just what we needed!

Tower Bridge, London
Tower Bridge south suspension. A beautiful and easily accessible bridge – no wonder this iconic bridge is SO popular with us tourists! There are tours that take you up one tower, across the walkway, and down the other tower. Didn’t do it this trip but it sounds fun!

Peach ice cream – Hyman’s General Store

Untitled
Homemade peach flavored ice cream. Small $2.75
Hyman’s General Store, Charleston SC

Omg, three scoops of ice cream is a small here! That’s a lot of ice cream! It was very good and I liked the airy consistency. The store is next to Hyman’s Restaurant which always has a crowd of people waiting to dine inside. It looks SUPER touristy though so I prolly won’t try it.

Vanilla honey lavender ice cream – Fairfax Scoop

Project 365: Day 124

Ugh, so sad to be back at work today after such a great weekend. At least the weather is holding up. Heading to the gym after work and just gonna spend the night catching up on dvr.

Vanilla honey lavender ice cream Fairfax Scoop
Vanilla flavored ice cream made with local ingredients. Honey from Marshall CA and lavender from Wood Lane Gardens in Fairfax CA. Kids scoop $1.75
Fairfax Scoop, Fairfax CA

This had a softer texture than some of the other flavors at Fairfax Scoop, but it tasted amazing. The honey added a rich sweetness and the lavender wasn’t too overpowering.

Latin Jazz ice cream – Fairfax Scoop

Project 365: Day 123

Mmm, had a great dinner at LaSalette last night. It’s a Portuguese tapas restaurant and everything was really good. We ended up walking back to The Lodge from downtown, enjoying the warm evening weather and viewing the Super Moon!

This morning was amazing! We grabbed a quick breakfast snack from the Carneros Bistro counter and just had a lazy morning poolside. David read the newspaper and I jumped in and out of the pool. We had a relaxed, yummy brunch at The Girl + The Fig before wine tasting at Buena Vista Winery, Gundlach Bundschu, and Anaba Wines. Gundlach Bundschu was my favorite of the three! I definitely want to come back at a later date and have a picnic day here.

Now we’re back in The City, having cocktails and getting hungry again, lol! It’s been a great weekend.

Latin Jazz ice cream Fairfax Scoop
Bittersweet chocolate flavored ice cream with red chiles. Kids scoop $1.75
Fairfax Scoop, Fairfax CA

This was a very interesing scoop of ice cream with the red chiles. You could definitely taste the chiles and they added a little bit of “latin” heat. I liked it!

Grasshopper pie ice cream – Mitchell’s Ice Cream

Acorn-cranberry custard – Benu

Acorn-cranberry custard Benu

With banana ice cream. Pre fixe dinner $180
Benu, San Francisco

This dessert was great to look at, but it didn’t do it for me. Maybe it was too intricate for me, but I didn’t get much enjoyment from eating it. The ribbon of custard was impressive. It had a cranberry layer and a cranberry layer. The bright, shiny cranberries were also beautiful on the plate. The banana ice cream had a great punch of flavor, but I didn’t like the texture of it. All the components didn’t quite work together. They were too disparate.

Acorn-cranberry custard Benu
Coffee service Benu

Coffee service. $5
I’m still on the fence regarding their coffee service-ware. They appeared too clunky compared to all the other beautiful dishes during the meal.

Caramelized olive oil cake – RN74

Caramelized olive oil cake RN74

With huckleberry, ginger, tarragon, olive oil ice cream. New Year four-course tasting menu $80
RN74, San Francisco

I didn’t enjoy this dessert as much as I thought I would. I think there was too much olive oil flavors everywhere. I did like the huckleberries and the nice crunch of the yellow flake things. I wasn’t a fan of the olive oil ice cream, but the olive oil cake was pretty good.
