Crispy brussels sprout chips – Marlowe

Crispy brussels sprout chips - Marlowe
Lemon and sea salt. $9
Marlowe, San Francisco CA

These were tasty, but I will say that after a while they got pretty greasy. I was by myself and I felt kind of sick eating most of the bowl. Once the chips cooled down, the grease just seemed to seep out from everywhere. Yuck!

Pistachio meatballs – Zare at Fly Trap

Pistachio meatballs - Zare at Fly Trap
Red harissa, honey, pomegranate. $14
Zare at Fly Trap, San Francisco CA

These were really tasty! The meatball was tender and juicy and I enjoyed the medium texture. I don’t like my meatballs too hard. The delicious sauce was the best part with the Middle Eastern/Mediterranean flavors.

Blonde Manhattan cocktail - Zare at Fly Trap
Blonde Manhattan: moonshine, becherovka, cocchi, bitter cube bitters.
Not my favorite…

Foie gras creme brulee – Lavender Bistro

Foie gras creme brulee - Lavender Bistro
Poached pear, toast points. $16
Lavender Bistro, La Quinta CA

Mmm, this appetizer was SO delicious! I loved the silky texture of the foie gras mousse combined with the hard bruleed crust. I thought the toast points were a little tacky though (and definitely not enough of them for the amount of foie gras).

Cape Cod cocktail - Lavender Bistro
Cape Cod cocktail. $9

Jalapeno poppers – Balancoire

Jalapeno poppers - Balancoire
Served with ranch dressing. $8
Balancoire, San Francisco CA

Sure these jalapeno poppers were probably from a huge frozen bag from Costco, but they were still great. I knew what I was getting when I order them so I wasn’t disappointed by the low quality. I did like that they were fried well and not at all greasy. Who doesn’t love cheap junk food now and then?

Butternut squash dumplings – E&O Kitchen and Bar

Butternut squash dumplings - E&O Kitchen and Bar
Red curry sauce. Happy hour $1 each
E&O Kitchen and Bar, San Francisco CA

Mmm, these dumplings were really good! I thought the combination of butternut squash and red curry would be weird, but it actually tasted great. The dumplings had a wonderful texture and the sauce was a nice change of pace for pasta.

Walnut bread and burrata – Beretta

Walnut bread and burrata - Beretta
Mushroom-truffle honey. $8
Beretta, San Francisco CA

Mmm! Just give me burrata and I’m one happy camper. I loved these delicious bites of food! It was salty, silky, umami, creamy, and absolutely perfect. NOMS!

Wind Up Bird cocktail - Beretta
Wind Up Bird: Japanese whiskey, carpano bianco, curacao, salted cacao. $11
This cocktail was very herby and liqueury tasting and so it wasn’t my favorite. Although it wasn’t sweet per se, it was leaning toward that profile.

Grilled cheese – Cockscomb

Grilled cheese - Cockscomb
Truffle and honey. $16
Cockscomb, San Francisco CA

Wow, this was probably the most decadent grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever eaten thus far, and it certainly was delicious! It was warm and cheesy, and wonderfully fragrant from the truffles with a sweetness from the honey. NOMS!

Harissa, caramelized onions, Anchor Steam beer, grilled herb focaccia. $18
Sutro’s at The Cliff House, San Francisco CA

Wow, this dish was pretty amazing! The mussels were large and plump, and that sauce and caramelized onions were perfect. It was rich and smoky and SO flavorful. Noms!
