Caramelized onion glaze, bok choy, carrots, lotus chips.
SLS Las Vegas Hotel, Las Vegas NV
I thought the caramelized onion glaze was delicious and the beef was tender enough. The vegetables were ok, but maybe a bit overcooked.

Chorizo scramble, jack cheese, pico del gallo, guacamole, and sour cream in corn tortillas served with charro beans. $12.95
Northside Cafe, Las Vegas NV
These were pretty good. The tortillas were a bit dry but the chorizo scramble was flavorful. The side of charro beans on the other hand were super bland, gross!

$11
Gajalee, San Francisco CA
This was a decent tikka masala. The chicken pieces were large and kinda dry, but the sauce was tasty.

House beer-cheddar, bacon lardons, smoked-salt onion strings, Umami house ketchup, mustard spread. $12
Umami Burger, Las Vegas NV

I was a bit disappoint by this burger after all the hype about this burger brand. Mostly, I didn’t like the bun. But the burger was surprisingly tame tasting despite the fact that it’s called the “Manly”. I’ve had much manlier burgers elsewhere with more flavor.

Good Island 312 Urban Wheat Ale. 14 ounce $9

Side $4.75
The Grille at Shadowrock, Sedona AZ
This bacon was thin and on the crispy side which isn’t my favorite. I like my bacon thicker, meaty and juicy. Oh well, I’ll still eat it, hehe!

English cucumbers, vine ripe tomatoes, mint, cilantro topped with cellophane noodles, poached shrimp and served with peanut dressing.
SLS Las Vegas Hotel, Las Vegas NV
This salad was really refreshing. I wish there was less noodles and more greens though, but it was nicely presented.

Corned beef and potatoes with two eggs over medium. $12.95
Northside Cafe, Las Vegas NV
This dish was oily and bland – not a good combination. I wanted something hearty and flavorful, but this did not deliver. I don’t think I would have enjoyed this even if I was drunk. It was a complete disappointment.

Spicy young jack fruit curry. Northern-style curry base, fresh and dried spices, and chicken. $10.95
Lotus of Siam, Las Vegas NV
This curry was different from others I’ve tried. The young jack fruit had an interesting texture and flavor (I guess I’m used to sweetened jack fruit in syrup). It was pretty refreshing though, but I wish that had delivered the spiciness that the menu description promised.

Side of rice.

Sauteed Mexican chorizo, fried eggs, whipped chayenne chive sour cream. $11.50
The Grille at Shadowrock, Sedona AZ
I actually really liked this waffle even though it was SO rich and I think it gave me a little heart burn. The flavored sour cream was pretty tasty though.

Bloody Mary and mimosa.

White grits, baby spinach, cucumber-feta salad, poblano-mint salsa verde. $26
Saltrock Southwest Kitchen, Sedona AZ
This was ok I guess, but the lamb shank was on the tough and chewy side. It would never make up for this horrible dining experience at Saltrock!

Two scrambled eggs, tortillas, chorizo, cotija cheese and pico de gallo. $13.95
Northside Cafe, Las Vegas NV
Ugh, these weren’t very good. The flavors sucked and the tortillas were simultaneously soggy and hard. Even the tomatillo salsa was on the bland side.

Coffee. French press $4.95
