With yellow eye beans, octopus and crispy squid. Family-style dinner, $65 per person
The Progress, San Francisco CA
This was one of my favorite dishes of the night! But I think that the octopus and crispy squid were the stars of the dish. The whole thing tasted wonderfully together though, and I couldn’t get enough!

White wine garlic sauce. Whole $36.95
Capurro’s Restaurant, San Francisco CA
Ugh, this was SO salty! And the host was a jerk. He was so unprofessional. We were seated near the host desk and we could hear him continually talking badly about the customers.

Two pieces of secret recipe fried chicken with fries, cole slaw and cream biscuit. $12.75
Brenda’s French Soul Food, San Francisco CA
This tasted great, but it was actually really greasy!!! And I didn’t like that – lame. I also thought the French fries AND cream biscuit was just fatty carb overload. I would’ve appreciated another option for sides.

Cole slaw and pickled watermelon rinds.

Coconut curry, snap peas, fresh turmeric. $15.75
Liholiho Yacht Club, San Francisco CA
I liked the flavors in this dish, but it was definitely on the salty side. The curry and turmeric were great. The clams were also pretty small and tough so I kinda wish they were large plump mussels instead.

Served with garlic naan.

Sausalito cress, salt-packed capers, Parmigiano. $14
Locanda, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this was SO delicious! The lamb was tender and perfectly simple and tasty. More please!

Fort Point Beer Co. Kolsch style ale, San Francisco. $8
SO lame, they totally over-charge for this item based on what is listed on their menu!!!

With mustard-miso oyster sauce. Family-style dinner, $65 per person
The Progress, San Francisco CA
Hmm, this dish didn’t excite me. The beef was nicely prepared, but the dish didn’t seem fun and inventive. The mustard-miso oyster sauce fell flat for me. I loved the variety of greens though.

With oyster crackers. Cup $6.95
Capurro’s Restaurant, San Francisco CA
This clam chowder was gross! It tasted like uncooked flour, and all the ingredients felt mushy and overcooked. The bread was also super dry.

Sourdough bread and butter. Complimentary

Oaxaca cheese, caramelized onions, anaheim peppers, on flour tortillas. $9
Lolo, San Francisco CA
These were pretty tasty and unique. I loved all the different flavors, and the deep fried avocado had a nice firm texture. I kinda wish this was a meat taco though with the avocado as an additional topping. I’m definitely now a vegetarian, lol.

Rickey Ricardo: City of London gin, lime, soda. $11

Macadamia nuts, fresh coconut and chocolate chips. $2.19
Boudin Bakery and Cafe, San Francisco CA
This cookies was very tasty and it was soft too. I loved the combination of macadamia, coconut AND chocolate.

With salted chili paste. Family-style dinner, $65 per person
The Progress, San Francisco CA
I liked the flavors in this dish, but there really wasn’t much to eat on the plate. I thought it looked dramatic, but I wish there was more edible meat.
