Pork and shrimp wonton soup – Kingdom of Dumpling

Pork and shrimp wonton soup - Kingdom of Dumpling
With wide rice noodles, bok choy, mushrooms. $5.95

Pork and shrimp wonton soup - Kingdom of Dumpling
Mmm, this soup was delicious and they give plenty of it for less than six bucks! I like the large pieces of bok choy although they were difficult to cut and eat with chopsticks (I’m definitely not a professional). The broth and the filled wontons were very tasty.

Sparkling and red wine tasting – Gloria Ferrer Winery

Sparkling and red wine tasting - Gloria Ferrer Winery
Gloria Ferrer Winery, Sonoma CA

I usually enjoy my visits to Gloria Ferrer, but during my last visit the annoying idiot girls working the hostess desk were ridiculous! Gloria Ferrer really needs to reevaluate who they hired to represent their brand and be the first people they encounter when walking in. I was tempted to write a scathing Yelp review right then and there! Bad service is bad service and there’s no excuse for it!

Broiled sliced spicy pork – My Tofu House

Broiled sliced spicy pork - My Tofu House
Daeji bulgoki. $20.27
My Tofu House, San Francisco CA

This definitely arrived to the table sizzling hot! The pork had a nice flavor (but perhaps a slight fishy flavor(?) in a good way), but I was a bit shocked by the price. Sure there was a generous serving of pork, but I don’t think I’ve ever paid over twenty bucks for bulgogi even with the banchan taken into account!

Charcuterie – Etoile

Charcuterie - Etoile
Prosciutto, beef tartare, soppressata, picante, coppa, pork terrine, cheese, pickled vegetables, toasted baguette. $40
Etoile, Yountville CA

Wow, this charcuterie plate was amazing! And I think reasonably priced for the amount of quality food you received. All the cuts were delicious but I especially liked the pork terrine, tartare, and soppressata. The pickled veggies were also a great accompaniment.

Smoked brisket – Rose’s Luxury

Smoked brisket - Rose's Luxury
White bread, horseradish and slaw. $28
Rose’s Luxury, Washington DC

Omg, shut the front door! This brisket was frickin’ delicious! The was smokey and fatty and  I didn’t want to stop eating it. It is served family style and I will say for $28 there was plenty to feed the four of us. I still have visions of this brisket and wonder when I can have it once more…

Shanghai soup dumplings – Kingdom of Dumpling

Shanghai soup dumplings - Kingdom of Dumpling
Xiao long bao. $4.95
Kingdom of Dumpling, San Francisco CA

These were very good and super cheap! I loved that they used a napa cabbage leaf on the bottom instead of nothing, paper, or worse those gross foil tins! The dumpling wrappers were a good thickness (not too thick) and the soup broth and pork filling were tasty. Noms!

Combination soft tofu soup - My Tofu House
Tofu with beef, shrimp, clam, and egg. $11.99
My Tofu House, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this soup was delicious! I loved the spiciness of it and the flavors were great. The clams and shrimp gave the soup a powerful seafood flavor, but I didn’t mind. I could have eaten this bowl all by myself!

Smoked fried chicken – Starbelly

Smoked fried chicken - Starbelly
Potato salad and jalapeño radicchio slaw. $16
Starbelly, San Francisco CA

This was pretty good. The chicken pieces weren’t that greasy, but I will say that they were a little overdone. I liked their smoky flavor and the refreshing slaw. I wasn’t too impressed with the potato salad. It reminded me more of dry mashed potatoes than anything.
