Wow, it’s finally warming up outside! I didn’t have to wear a vest or jacket while out during the day today. Heck yeah! Now I’m totally motivated to kill it at the gym and to bike to work tomorrow morning. Papa Chang, Rapunzel and I are also gonna bike during lunch. I will get that cruise bod yet!

Yum! But then again I like most things from Mission Chinese Food. I love the saltiness of this dish and the fatty sausage. It’s kinda hard to find the fish (escolar, Lepidocybium flavobrunneum) among all the other ingredients but you can definitely taste it.

Fried rice with egg and onion topped with grilled pork shoulder and chopped cilantro. Served with sliced cucumbers and a sweet chili fish sauce. $7.25

This dish isn’t what I expected. I thought that the pork would be cut up into little pieces and incorporated into the fried rice. Thank god it wasn’t! This dish was SO good and it’s really all about the pork. The the thick slices of grilled pork shoulder were SO flavorful and juicy. You can put it on top of anything and I would eat the entire plate. Noms!

I didn’t enjoy this dessert as much as I thought I would. I think there was too much olive oil flavors everywhere. I did like the huckleberries and the nice crunch of the yellow flake things. I wasn’t a fan of the olive oil ice cream, but the olive oil cake was pretty good.

I enjoyed this dessert very much. It was very different and fresh tasting. I think my favorite components were the kaffir lime meringues and the cremeaux. It was mostly citrus flavors but the pistachio streusel helped to neutralize the acidity. I’m still on the fence about the coconut-shiso sorbet. Maybe that was a little too out there for me. Perhaps the flavor wasn’t intense enough so it faded into the background.
