Bowl $7
DGS Delicatessen, Washington DC
This matzo ball soup was OK. The broth was kinda bland. Definitely not as good as Wise Sons in San Francisco.

California roll, baked salmon roll, nigiri of tuna, salmon, yellow tail, eel, and shrimp. Served with house salad and miso soup. $16
Asia Nine, Washington DC
This sushi was GROSS! The nigiri were dry and definitely NOT fresh. The sushi rice on the rolls were also dry and flavorless. At least you could hide the horribleness with the baked salmon roll since it was hot. This was my first experience with sushi in DC and it traumatized me! And the service and food timing was horrible. One guy didn’t receive his roll until we got our check. Really, that’s acceptable service?!

House salad and miso soup.

Federal Triangle Flowers, Stephen Robin.

With wide rice noodles, bok choy, mushrooms. $5.95
Kingdom of Dumpling, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this soup was delicious and they give plenty of it for less than six bucks! I like the large pieces of bok choy although they were difficult to cut and eat with chopsticks (I’m definitely not a professional). The broth and the filled wontons were very tasty.

Random Chinese church, Mission.

Spicy sausage, kale and russet potatoes in creamy broth.
Olive Garden, Martinsburg WV
Why me?! I was dragged to Olive Garden by some co-workers who wanted to eat some “good” Italian food, lol! This soup was marginal. It was very salty and not very exciting.

Blue Moon draft beer. $4.99

Log cabin, Morven Park, Leesburg VA.

Mini meatballs, vegetables and greens. Bowl $4.99
Ledo Pizza, Ranson WV
Meh, this soup didn’t taste any better than something from a can. It was actually really salty too.

Shenandoah National Park, VA.

Breaded and fried. Served with soup, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cole slaw. $12.95
Mountain View Diner, Charles Town WV
Wow, this was SO much food! I actually couldn’t believe how much food came out with my one order. And there were 4 pieces of fried catfish on my plate! It’s no wonder why the other diners in the restaurant were on the heavier side… The food was actually very tasty and well cooked, but it was more than enough for one person. I tried eating as much as could but ended up leaving quite a bit on my plate. This place is definitely a good home-cookin’ type of restaurant though.

Lentil soup.

Charles Town Races.

Thai hot and sour soup with coconut milk, chicken, galangal, mushrooms, red onion, tomato, kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass. Sprinkled with cilantro and green onion. $8.95
Thai Thani Kitchen, Seattle WA
This soup was very good and a much better value than the fresh rolls (although they still skimped on the chicken). It was very flavorful with a bit of a kick.

Provolone cheese on sourdough bread. $8.50
The People’s Pub, Seattle WA
Mmm, there’s something about a warm, melted grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup that is just SO comforting! I guess anything with that much fat, cheese, and cream is gonna be satisfying. Noms!

Served with crackers. $10
Chippy’s Fish & Drink, Seattle WA
Mmm, this was delicious! It had such depth of flavor and the ingredients were top notch and cooked perfectly. Noms!

Fremont Brewing summer ale. $5

Rice noodle soup with eye-round steak and soft tendon. Medium with extra meat $7.20
Pho Than Brothers, Seattle WA
This pho was pretty good. I thought that the flavor of the broth could have been a little more developed. The soft tendon was good, but I didn’t finish it. The best part of the meal is the complimentary cream puff though. I’ve always liked their delicious cream puffs!

Cream puff and soup toppings. Complimentary

Pork dumpling, chicken, snow pea, carrot, onion, bok choy. Bowl $7.95
Jasmine Tea House, San Francisco CA
I liked this soup even though it was a bit on the salty side. They definitely don’t skimp of the won tons! Mmm.

White truffle olive oil and chopped chives. 3-course dinner $19.99
Lulu California Bistro, Palm Springs CA
This soup did not look very appetizing, but it tasted all right. The texture was also a little off and was grainy. Definitely not my favorite.
