Stopped here for a coffee and sweets break while shopping in Santana Row for the first time. The sweets were ok, nothing special. I was able to talk the cashier to let me mix and match the pastries though since they were 5 pieces of $3.50. And it’s great to sit outside in the park area in front of the coffee shop on a bright, sunny day!

Apple danish – Upper Terrace Market

Project 365: Day 102

Worked out this morning before meeting D-Dubs for breakfast at Dolores Park Cafe. I had to give him Kry’s camera before he flies out for Germany. It was nice catching up with him and I’m super excited to meet then in Dublin in 1.5 weeks. Had to go into work again for a quick assignment. Now, I’ve just been working on this blog, doing laundry, and watching tv. This weekend as flown by! Now I have to pack for my trip to Las Vegas tomorrow afternoon. Ugh, I’m SO tired of traveling!

Apple danish Upper Terrace Market

I’m not sure where they get their pastries, but this apple danish was calling to me. It was pretty good! And I love the friendly guys at Upper Terrace Market. It’s such a cute, neighborhood corner store.

Apple danish – Peet’s Coffee & Tea

Apple danish Peet's Coffee & Tea

I really hate that breakfast options at airports are always super limited. I ended up grabbing this apple danish and a coffee at Peet’s. I rationalized buying this because I was super hungry and didn’t actually eat all of the pastry portion, hehe! Maybe it’s the fact that I’m in an airport, but I can never truly enjoy most food there.

Blackberry oat scone – Tully’s Coffee

Blackberry oat scone Tully's Coffee

This scone looks dry, but it actually wasn’t. It was pretty moist and the blackberries gave it a nice sweetness and flavor. We pruchased this scone thinking it was on the healthier side, but I’m not entirely sure that it was healthy at all, hehe! $2.19

Banana chocolate scone – Four Barrel Coffee

Project 365: Day 42

It’s only Wednesday, argh! This weekend is going by so slowly. 😦

Had a great Valentine’s dinner last night at Fish & Farm. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that we didn’t have to take their Valentine’s pre fixe option but we could order from their regular menu too – heck yeah! After dinner we went and grabbed a drink at Aunt Charlie’s because Silverfox had never been there. I wish there could have been an actual drag performance so he could have experience to the full effect but it was early and I’m not even sure which nights they have performances. I’m psyching myself out so I can kill it at the gym tonight since I’m feeling kinda fat. Ew!

I made went back to Four Barrel this morning because I spent the night at Silverfox’s and this was on the way to Bart. I know that they overcharged me last time, so I wanted to see if they’ve finally trained all their workers properly (that’s only partially a joke). Anyway, the girl who helped me was super sweet and friendly despite the store being barely open at 7am. And she didn’t overcharge me, yay! The coffee was so-so, but this scone was very good! I loved the banana and chocolate combo. It wasn’t super sweet so that’s another bonus! $3.50

Apricot bande aux fruits – La Boulange de Noe

Project 365: Day 30

It’s Friday, Friday! (Sung a-la Rebecca Black)

Totally forgot that Codes was visiting this weekend so that should be fun. Don’t have to work as of now so it’ll be nice to relax and hang out with Silverfox and friends. I had a really good workout this morning and I like to think that people were checking me out, lol! Maybe I was just hallucinating cause I was starving again. Or maybe I just had booger hanging from my nose!

Apricot bande aux fruits La Boulange de Noe

Buttery pastry crust with almond cream (or vanilla cream?) and sweet apricots. $3
La Boulange Bakery, San Francisco

This place is gonna be the death of me! I’m always hungry after the gym and I walk by La Boulange and Noe Valley Bakery on the way home so I’m always tempted to grab something to snack on. This bande aux fruits was SO yummy and I loved the charred apricots on top.

The crust was super soft!

Orange bun – Bean There

Orange bun Bean There

Flaky, buttery pastry dough rolled with orange flavored sugar. $2.40
Bean There, San Francisco

This was actually pretty good, but I guess you can’t go wrong with croissant dough and flavored sugar! The cafe, on the other hand, was not so great. The service was lazy and they automatically assumed that I wanted my order to-go so I got my latte served in a lame paper cup and the orange bun came in a bag. Whatever! I guess they like creating more waste for the environment or perhaps they’re too lazy to wash glasses.

The flavored sugar crystals were large and fun to eat!

Duboce latte Bean There

Duboce latte. Double shot of espresso, milk and caramel syrup. $3.95

Chocolate eclair – La Boulange de Noe

Project 365: Day 27

Wow, it sure was cold this morning! My hands got frozen to and from the gym. It felt like I was back in Seattle. Maybe that’s my cue to move farther south, hehe!

Had a pretty good workout, but I feel like I’m not making it to the gym early enough so I’m rushing while I’m there. That’s not going to change because I hate getting out of bed. I was able to get a couple loads of laundry in while I was having coffee, though. Not mouch else happening today.

Chocolate eclair La Boulange de Noe

Choux pastry split lengthwise, filled with a chocolate cream and topped with chocolate frosting. $3.25
La Boulange Bakery, San Francisco

This was delicious! The consistency of the chocolate cream filling was just how I like it. I’m not a big fan of custardy fillings for eclairs. They remind me of Bismarck donuts, yuck! This filling was light and airy and nommy! There are SO many yummy pastries at La Boulange and it’s my goal to try all of them, lol!

Chocolate eclair La Boulange de Noe

I love that even if you’re buying just one eclair, La Boulange still takes the time to box it up and prevent the eclair from getting damaged in transit. Way to go, guys!

Chocolate eclair La Boulange de Noe

I prefer the first bite over the last bite, hehe!

Double pain au chocolat – Tartine Bakery

Project 365: Day 24

It’s a beautiful day this morning! I little chilly but the sun is shining bright and the air is fresh.

Went to Tartine Bakery around 8:15am and there was already a line out the door. I purchased this chocolate croissant and a cake for the work party tonight. I’m always surprised how much the cakes are. I mean they’re really good but a 12″ chocolate souffle cake for $62 still a lot!

Gonna be busy today. I have to clean the entire house, do laundry, work on the computer, order Filipino food and pick it up, make a grocery store run and everything else before people start arriving tonight. It’ll be fun though. Someone is bringing a Magic Mic so it’ll be a karaoke battle up in here, lol!

Double pain au chocolat Tartine Bakery

Chocolate croissant with Valrhona chocolate. $4.50
Tartine Bakery, San Francisco

This is an expensive croissant, but I’ll admit that it’s totally worth it! It’s SO frickin’ flaky, buttery and delicious. Seriously, the flaky exterior falls apart just by looking at it. SO good!

Double pain au chocolat Tartine Bakery

Wish there was more chocolate inside, but I do think the ratio is appropriate. I’m just a chocolate whore, lol!

Double pain au chocolat Tartine Bakery

The pain au chocolat is also pretty large. It’s so rich that I can only eat half of it at a time.

Chocolate croissant – Four Barrel Coffee

I’m still a little annoyed that I was charged $11 for this lame croissant and a latte. $11!!! What a rip off! The croissant was even dry! Suffice it to say that I have NOT been back.
Four Barrel Coffee, San Francisco

Chocolate croissant Four Barrel Coffee

I had to take a pic of the receipt when I was in the Bart tunnel. OK, I was probably overcharged accidentally but you would think that the cashier should realize that a frickin’ latte and croissant doesn’t cost $11! A refund should be in order!
