Fried onioncake – House of Nanking

Fried onioncake - House of Nanking
Served with house peanut sauce. $4.95
House of Nanking, San Francisco CA

Mmm, this was delicious! I loved the runny peanut sauce, and the filling of the cake with a combination Chinese green onion and red onions was great. The exterior had a nice flour-y flavor and was fried nicely with little grease residue.

Lamb and beef gyro – Gryo Xpress

Lamb and beef gyro - Gryo Xpress
Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, tzatziki sauce. $7.50
Gyro Xpress, San Francisco CA

Ugh, this was SO gross! It looked fine on the plate, but once I started eating it gallons of grease started dripping out from inside. Barf! This was an excessive amount of grease, too. The lamb cuts were also of poor quality with lots of fat (not the yummy kind) and gristle. No thank you!

Natural beef carpaccio – Foreign Cinema

Natural beef carpaccio - Foreign Cinema
Fresh horseradish crema, wild arugula, manchego cheese, waffle chips, fried capers. $15
Foreign Cinema, San Francisco CA

Mmm, I really loved the variety of flavors and textures in this dish! They made the plate really fun and delicious. My one suggestion would be that the beef could have been shaved slightly thicker. Because the beef was SO thin, it sometimes got lost amongst all the other yummy components leaving you to ask, “Where’s the beef?”

Bbq chicken – Sorabol

Bbq chicken - Sorabol
With steamed broccoli and brown rice. $8.95
Sorabol, San Francisco CA

When I want a crap-load of protein at a great price, Sorabol is where it’s at! I’ve recently refrained from getting the brown rice and just getting extra broccoli. I love it! Yes, it’s kinda fatty and yes it’s on the salty side and maybe the proteins aren’t the best quality, but it hits the spot and definitely fills me up!

Quail eggs mayonnaise – The Cavalier

Quail eggs mayonnaise - The Cavalier
Celery salt and crispy shallot. Each $2
The Cavalier, San Francisco CA

Sorry for being away again. I’ll be on the East Coast for a few months for work and it’s been hectic getting set up. Thanks for your patience!

These quail eggs were really fun and delicious! They were delicately prepared and the celery salt and crispy shallots were great garnishes. I loved them. Noms!
