Churrasquitos – Punto de Vista Restaurant

Untitled
3 Argentinean steak soft tacos, lettuce, tomato, cheese and a raspberry chipotle sauce with arroz mamposteao (blended rice). Sweet and zesty! $11
Punto de Vista Restaurant, Old San Juan, PUERTO RICO

This was ok. It wasn’t what I was expecting. This was more of a steak wrap than a soft taco in my opinion, but maybe that’s just a regional difference. It was flavorful enough especially with the sauce, but it was cold so I was bit turned off.

Morro Castle
Wall around the grounds of Castillo San Felipe del Morro. Morro Castle was designed to protect the entrance to San Juan Bay. It’s located at the western tip of Old San Juan and is a great place for walking around and flying kites.

Mojitos Punto de Vista Restaurant
Omg, loved this place in Old San Juan! They had the best drink specials and it seemed like the specials ran all day. They actually made their drinks with alcohol unlike most of the other restaurants that served super watered-down drinks.

La Rogativa statue

La Rogativa, Lindsay Daen 1971. Old San Juan has a lot of random statues beautifying the streets. This one is located at the end of Caleta de las Monjas along the old city walls.

Cocktails – Do Brazil

Sea breeze Do Brazil

Sea breeze – vodka, cranberry, grapefruit. €12

Sea breeze Do Brazil

Mojito – rum, sugar, lime, fresh mint, club soda. €12
Do Brazil, Gustavia, SAINT BARTHELEMY

Omg, I love St. Barths! This island was SO relaxing (and expensive). Of course, we had to celebrate our arrival to this amazing island with delicious cocktails. I had the sea breeze during lunch upstairs in the restaurant and the mojito at our lounge chairs on the beach.

Shell Beach Gustavia
Looking down towards Shell Beach from Fort Karl. Do Brazil Restaurant is directly behind the row of chairs. I walked up the hill while everyone stayed behind to sun. They’re relaxing under the first set of umbrellas from the right. The water was super clear and fairly warm despite the occasional rain shower. I wanna go back!

Rose Kennedy cocktails – The Tropicale

Project 365: Day 91

Ugh, I’m SO tired of fried food right now (I didn’t think I’d ever say that, lol)! I decided to hit Subway for lunch instead of going to a local fast food restaurant. There are no healthy options for lunch nearby my Charleston work location. Perhaps there are some further away, but I only have so much time during lunchtime to drive somewhere and get food. For dinner, I had leftovers from last night. The one thing that is saving this trip is that the weather is really nice. That’s keeping me motivated to work out.

Rose Kennedy cocktail The Tropicale
Vodka with soda and a splash of cranberry. Happy hour $4 each
The Tropicale, Palm Springs CA

This was the trip that we learned that these cocktails were called Rose Kennedy’s. We had been ordering them as “vodka soda with a splash of cran”, silly us! 🙂

Road trip snack – Jack in the Box

Project 365: Day 83

I’m still struggling to complete my work trip travel authorization on our systems without all the information I need. I’ll have a co-instructor but he hasn’t been very helpful either. Oh well, at least my gym workouts have been going well. I’ve been somewhat unmotivated, but I’m still trying to push myself. I don’t think there will be much of a gym at my hotel in Charleston so I’ve got to get in some quality workouts before then.

Egg roll Jack in the Box

Jack in the Box, Kettleman City CA

Silverfox and I had this less than stellar fast food meal on one of our road trips down to Palm Springs. It’s fast food, what can you do?!

Egg roll Jack in the Box

This thing is super starchy, but familiar. Meh.

Chicken nuggets Jack in the Box

Crispy chicken nuggets (5 pcs) with bbq sauce.

Grilled chicken strips Jack in the Box

Grilled white meat chicken strips (5 pcs) served with teriyaki dipping sauce.

Beverages Jack in the Box

Diet Coke and coffee.

Project 365: Day 58

Yay, flying to Columbus Ohio to celebrate Codes’ birthday. I have mixed feelings at this point because I should really stay home, save money, and not eat and drink so much this close to the cruise but Codes is one of my best friends so I’m also glad to fly out to celebrate with him. I have an early flight so I land in Columbus around 4:30pm. It’ll be great seeing him family and “eclectic” group of friends, hehe!

Snacks Southwest Airlines

Diet Coke, Original Wheat Thins, lightly salted nuts. Complimentary
Southwest Airlines, SFO-MDW

Cocktails – Mercury Lounge

Silverfox and I came here to redeem an expired daily deal coupon (so we were at least able to deduct the face value). We tend to be early eaters so it was nice find out that we arrived during their happy hour (Tue-Fri, 5pm – 8pm). Well drinks were only $4 and the pours were decent, score!
Mercury Lounge, San Francisco

Rose Kennedy Mercury Lounge

Rose Kennedy. Well vodka soda with a splash of cranberry juice.

Cape cod Mercury Lounge

Cape Cod. Well vodka with cranberry juice.

Madras Mercury Lounge

Madras. Well vodka with orange juice and cranberry juice.

Cocktails – Hog & Rocks

Tom Collins Hog & Rocks

Tom Collins: Gordon’s gin, lemon, simple syrup, soda, garnished with lemon slice and cherry.  $6 happy hour

Dark & Stormy Hog & Rocks

Dark & Stormy: Coruba dark rum, bundaberg ginger beer, lime juice, garnished with lime slice.  $6 happy hour
Hog & Rocks, San Francisco

Have I ever mentioned that I love happy hour, lol!  These drinks were particularly delicious, and even more so at the discounted prices.  The Tom Collins was refreshing and light while the Dark & Stormy was dark and had a great ginger flavor.  I also love it when drinks are served tall (they last longer)!
