This pasta was great! I loved the interesting and delicious combination of flavors and textures. The kimchi sausage was surprisingly delightful in this dish and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Mmm…

As much as I didn’t enjoy this restaurant, this pasta dish was really great. I loved the flavor of the pesto and the soft mandilli had a wonderful texture.

Dungeness crab and artichoke ravioli – Sutro’s at The Cliff House

Dungeness crab and artichoke ravioli - Sutro's at The Cliff House
Meyer lemon beurre blanc, brioche, artichoke chips. $33
Sutro’s at The Cliff House, San Francisco CA

A little of this went a long way! I liked the flavors at first, but after a few bites the beurre blanc dominated everything. It was so rich that it definitely overwhelmed the dungeness crab inside the ravioli. I wish this dish was a bit more balanced because it read so appetizingly.

Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine - Sutro's at The Cliff House
Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine, brut, Somoma. $10

Agnolotti dal plin – Perbacco

Agnolotti dal plin - Perbacco
Pasta filled with roasted meats and savoy cabbage, sugo d’arrosto. $19
Perbacco, San Francisco CA

This tasted amazing! It was rich and meaty and the pasta was cooked perfectly. I don’t have agnolotti very often, but I loved it’s shape and small size. I don’t know if it was the sauce or the filling, but this had kinda of a grainy texture that was new and fun. The flavors were SO wonderful though. I could have eaten another plate!

Pumpkin ravioli – District Commons

Pumpkin ravioli - District Commons
Sage brown butter, amaretto crumble. $15
District Commons, Washington DC

This had great flavors and I liked the sage brown butter, but I thought that the whole thing was a bit dry. You can even see that the ravioli pasta was dry and starting to curl up at the edges. Perhaps the plate sat under the warmer too long – the service WAS a bit slow.
