Seasoned chicken breast bites – Big E Ales

Seasoned chicken breast bites - Big E Ales
Boneless cuts of tender chicken breast with homestyle breading. Served with ranch dressing. $7.59
Big E Ales, Lynnwood WA

These weren’t all that special and they were actually kinda hard and dry. The breading tasted good though and definitely tasted better with dipped in the ranch. I’m not sure I could differentiate these from frozen.

Red snapper ceviche – Hearth Coffee Roasters

Red snapper ceviche - Hearth Coffee Roasters
Mango, plantain chips, and salsa verde. Prix fixe dinner $29.50
Hearth Coffee Roasters, San Francisco CA

So this is the third time we’ve had dinner here and we’re beginning to think that Hearth is not going to be our mid-week dinner go-to. While the food has been good, the service has been disinterested and cold. We’ve enjoyed the concept and the great price, but there isn’t much that makes us want to keep coming back every week. We’ll keep giving them another try, but it’s not looking good.

Mini buffalo chicken meatballs – Bongo Johnny’s

Mini buffalo chicken meatballs - Bongo Johnny's
Dozen housemade meatballs covered with Frank’s Red Hot sauce served with bleu cheese, celery, and carrot sticks. $9.95
Bongo Johnny’s, Palm Springs CA

I’m doubtful that these meatball are actually housemade. They felt and tasted previously frozen to me, but maybe that’s because they were of poor quality. I didn’t enjoy this very much. The meatballs were dry and boring.

Duck liver mousse – Farmshop

Duck liver mousse - Farmshop
Whiskey-maple gelee, Spanish piparras, and burnt onion jam. $16
Farmshop, Larkspur CA

This mousse was wonderful! I loved the unique flavors from the burnt onion jam along with the peppers. Definitely a different take on your usual duck liver mousse served with toast. They really need to serve this with more bread though. The ratio was completely off.
