Frozen yogurt with blueberries and Reese’s Pieces. $4.99
Zia, Palm Springs International Airport (PSP)
Meh, this was ok. The frozen yogurt was basic and the Reese’s Pieces candies stated stale. The blueberries were good, and that was it.

Honey walnut shrimp and Golden Szechuan fish with chow mein. $9.79
Panda Express, Cabazon CA
Ugh, I feel sick just knowing that I consciously decided to eat at Panda Express and I chose probably the worst entree items for you! My greasy Chinese food craving got the best of me but I really shouldn’t have eaten here, but the options were limited. Anyway, I felt disgusting after eating this (and no, I didn’t even begin to finish all of it).

Grilled pork marinated in savory Filipino adobo sauce, served over rice with cucumbers and onions. $11.99
Go Bistro, San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
Meh, this tasted only faintly like pork adobo. That’s probably a good thing because the pork was more lean and less salty than regular adobo. The dish was more reminiscent of a Filipino adobo and an actual example of one. I probably wouldn’t order it again.

With basmati rice, pita, and salad. $8
Halal Cart, San Francisco CA
This is probably my favorite lunch item right now. I love their lamb gyro meat. They put a lot of white sauce on top already but I always add more, and include some of their pink hot sauce too. You can purchase extra meat but I can’t tell the difference in amount so it’s probably not worth it. This plate is so delicious though!

January 26, 2015. Extra lamb over rice. $10

March 16, 2015. Extra lamb over rice. $10

Side $3.75
Baby Blues BBQ, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this version was so cheesy and delicious! The pasta was cooked well (slightly on the soft side) and they were large enough to hold plenty of cheese for each bite. Noms!

With lettuce, tomato, mayo. $8.50
Kinder’s Truck, San Francisco CA
Mmm, this sandwich was SO tasty! It had two split links inside that were beautifully charred and so juicy and flavorful. The toppings and roll were simple so the star was definitely the protein. Noms!

I ducked into the Mercado section to kill some time before meeting some friends nearby. The service was nonexistent and the sangria was sugary sweet. Yuck! And for eight bucks for a tiny glass of it, definitely even more lame! $8
La Urbana, San Francisco CA

Everything on rye, served with pickles. $12.50
Shorty Goldstein’s, San Francisco CA
This sandwich was kinda amazing! The meat was SO flavorful and delicious, and perfect with the mustard with a kick. The rye bread was also pretty tasty. Mmm…

Strawberry and blueberry. $2.75
La Boulange de Market, San Francisco CA
Mmm, I love fruit danishes, and this was pretty scrumptious. Again, not the best I’ve ever had but still very tasty. And WAY better than the fake La Boulange crap they serve at Starbucks!

Red wine, red onion, ancho cress, green peppercorns. $26
A16, San Francisco CA
Eh, I wasn’t very impressed with this dish. I felt like it could have been more rich and flavorful, and the sauce could have been a little thicker. There also wasn’t any starch or something carb-y to balance the dish. Thank goodness we ordered a side of polenta.

Masciarelli, ‘Marina Cvetic’, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, San Martino Sulla Marrucina, Chieti, Abruzzo 2009. $16

Guacamole, cheese, black beans, pico de gallo, sour cream. $9.75
Andale Mexican Restaurant, San Francisco CA
These nachos were good, but definitely on the salty side. The pork could have been more flavor but they were tender enough. I did like that they used cotija cheese.

With roasted potatoes, sautéed vegetables, and mushrooms.
Firewood Cafe, San Francisco CA
Wow, this was a lot of food! The pork was ok, a bit on the dry side, but it was definitely hearty and healthier since it was pretty lean. This was a nightly special, and I’m glad that we gave it a try.
