Classic reuben sandwich – Royalicious Bagel Bakery

Classic reuben sandwich - Royalicious Bagel Bakery
Corn beef with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing on grilled marble rye.
Royalicious Bagel Bakery, Charles Town WV

Mmm, this sandwich was delicious and really big! The corned beef tasted great and they certainly didn’t skimp on the meat or the sauerkraut. I also liked the marbled rye bread.

Appetizer sampler – Applebee’s

Appetizer sampler - Applebee's
Mozzarella sticks, spinach and artichoke dip, cheese quesadilla grande, boneless wings. $12.89
Applebee’s, Charles Town WV

This was disgusting and I’m actually ashamed I ordered this to eat all by myself. Hey, I like a greasy appetizer as much as the next guy, but everything on this plate was really low quality and tasted horrible. I definitely didn’t finish it and swore I wouldn’t return to Applebee’s during my trip.

Chicken and fish combo – Long John Silver’s

Chicken and fish combo - Long John Silver's
Served with fries, 2 hushpuppies, and drink.
Long John Silver’s, Charles Town WV

I was a bit confused when I received this because I couldn’t tell which piece was fish and which was the chicken. They looked exactly the same. And oddly enough, they tasted the same too, and were disgustingly greasy. I don’t think I’ll ever order this again or even return to a Long John Silver’s. Even the hushpuppies were super greasy. At least the fries were good.

Tom kha gai – Thai Thani Kitchen

Tom kha gai - Thai Thani Kitchen
Thai hot and sour soup with coconut milk, chicken, galangal, mushrooms, red onion, tomato, kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass. Sprinkled with cilantro and green onion. $8.95
Thai Thani Kitchen, Seattle WA

This soup was very good and a much better value than the fresh rolls (although they still skimped on the chicken). It was very flavorful with a bit of a kick.

Enchiladas poblanas – Mi Degollado

Enchiladas poblanas - Mi Degollado
Two enchiladas topped with mole sauce, chopped onions and cheese. Served with rice and beans. $8.95
Mi Degollado, Charles Town WV

Gross, this food was horrible! I don’t know what they’re thinking but this does not successfully pass as decent Mexican food. The tortillas used for the enchiladas were sad and the mole sauce was bland. Even the margarita didn’t taste very good. Welcome to West Virginia I guess…

Fresh rolls – Thai Thani Kitchen

Fresh rolls - Thai Thani Kitchen
Green leaf lettuce, chicken, shrimp, basil and cilantro freshly rolled in rice paper. Served with peanut sauce. $5.95
Thai Thani Kitchen, Seattle WA

I was not impressed. These rolls are all lettuce with very little chicken and shrimp. It actually had only half a shrimp and a sliver of chicken for each piece. Now that’s sad! The peanut sauce was very thick – not my favorite but some people prefer that consistency.

Fried mac and cheese & baked beans – The Boar’s Nest

Fried mac and cheese & baked beans - The Boar's Nest
Served with the half slab rib combo. $17
The Boar’s Nest, Seattle WA

Fried mac and cheese - The Boar's Nest
Omg, these fried mac and cheese balls were amazing! They had a great crispy shell and the center was still molten and gooey with all the cheesy goodness. The baked beans were good too, but the fried mac and cheese certainly out-shined everything else.
