Lamb and beef gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, tzatziki sauce. 9 inch $8.95
Ayola, San Francisco CA
Mmm, I still like the gyros at Ayola. I like the flavor of their gyro meat and their fillings always tasted crisp and fresh.

With pad thai. $9.74
Coriander Gourmet Thai, San Francisco CA
This is probably some of the worst Thai food in The City, but it’s also very Americanized and pleasantly familiar tasting. The chicken was dry as usual and the pad thai was bland, but it made for a filling lunch.

Spicy falafel, veggies and hummus, pita. $7.50
The Flying Falafel, San Francisco CA
The falafel tasted fine, but I think mine were a bit over-fried. This plate was huge though and really messy once you mixed everything up. I don’t normally say this, but maybe was too many things in there (especially the pickles which just took over on flavor). I’d go back but probably get the more manageable sandwich.

Served with miso soup and salad. $15
Tokyo Express, San Francisco CA
I know I promised never to return to Tokyo Express for lunch, but I was really craving cheap sushi and this place is fairly close to my office. The food was surprisingly palatable this time around! The fish, although certainly not the freshest, was much better than the last time, and the rice was less sour and more moist than previously. Kudos for the improvement!

Sherman’s favorite served on a French roll, with cottage fries. $13.95
Sherman’s Deli and Bakery, Palm Springs CA
It’s hard to tell from this pic, but this was a HUGE slice of tiramisu! And it was really delicious too! I guess their dessert come just has large as their sandwiches!

With bok choy, green onion, cilantro. $8
Lee’s Deli, San Francisco CA
Adding the bbq pork to my usual wonton soup definitely made for a hearty and filling soup. This definitely hit the spot!

Grilled chicken, green beans, mixed greens. $10.29
Boudin Bakery and Cafe, San Francisco CA
This seasonal salad was good. I liked the beets and blue cheese with the greens beans, a combination they normally don’t offer.

With Russian style dressing on rye bread. $16.95
Langer’s Deli, Los Angeles CA
This was a solid sandwich. The pastrami was delicious as was the rye bread. I don’t think it was the best Jewish deli I’ve been to on the West Coast, but it was definitely on the better end.

With lettuce and sliced tomato on rye bread, side of potato salad. $16.95
Sherman’s Deli and Bakery, Palm Springs CA
Omg, this sandwich was HUGE! I could barely eat half of it. It was so good though, and I love all their meats. That’s why a trip to Palm Springs is incomplete without a visit to Sherman’s.

Served with crackers. $3.95
Langer’s Deli, Los Angeles CA
Mmm, I love matzo ball soup. This broth was delicious and the matzo ball was wonderfully soft and a joy to eat.

Served with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and homemade sauce. $5.25
Pier Burger, Santa Monica CA
This burger was small, but really delicious and easy to eat. The patty was juicy and flavorful and I liked the soft bun that they use.

Lamb and beef gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, tzatziki sauce. 9 inch $8.95
Ayola, San Francisco CA
It’s been a while since I last had a gyro from Ayola. I usually stick with they gyro platter since I’m always hungry and it provides more food. This was good though and I liked the price. Their “hot” sauce is still my favorite in the FiDi.
