Sweet bean sauce, served with wrappers. ¥48
Fami-Li-Hood Kitchen, Mutianyu Village CHINA
This dish tasted great, and I really enjoyed the wrappers. I’ve never had wrappers like these before with the textured surface. Very interesting and delicious!

Canadian bacon, pineapple and cheese. $4.55
Escape From New York Pizza, San Francisco CA
Apparently the price has gone up for a Hawaiian slice since the last time I bought one. I do like the Hawaiian slices at Escape from New York. Their tomato sauce taste good with the salty Canadian bacon and additional parmesan I sprinkle on top.

Roasted potatoes, orzo salad, bread, and vanilla ice cream. Complimentary
Beijing (PEK) to San Francisco (SFO), United Airlines
This did not taste good. I think I only ate a couple bites of the beef and not much else. Even the orzo salad was flavorless and plain. I did eat the vanilla ice cream. I guess you really can’t mess up prepackaged ice cream!

Blueberry pastry, mochi, dragon fruit, pomelo, watermelon. Complimentary in Executive Lounge
Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel, Beijing CHINA
Even the pastries and fruit were better at the Renaissance compared to Hilton properties. Maybe I should really consider switching loyalty programs…

Pan fried garlic chicken wings, chicken skewer, deep fried spring roll. ¥58
Cafe Sambal, Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK)
This was throw-away food – disgusting! Everything on this plate was super dry and tough, and actually flavorless. I don’t expect flavorless from fried food, but Cafe Sambal managed to accomplish it. The chicken was especially inedible.

Cooked for 6 hours, pumpkin and truffle. ¥80
El Willy, Shanghai CHINA
These tender cheeks were placed atop a fried roll of some kind and surrounded by soft polenta. The flavors were great and the beef wonderfully cooked.

¥98
Da Dong Roast Duck Restaurant, Beijing CHINA
Omg, these were SO delicious, pretty, and fun to eat! The bright red balls are the foie gras covered in a sweet coating. The lighter balls are actual fruit (but not actually cherries). This was served cold and they tasted great. I loved how they were made to look like really fruit. Cute!

¥30
Fami-Li-Hood Kitchen, Mutianyu Village CHINA
Mmm, this was delicious doused with soy sauce and chilies! I’ve always loved these greasy type omelets. I’ve only seen them served at Asian restaurants though. American restaurants don’t seem to served them this way. I grew up eating omelets like this at home. Noms!

Served over rice. ¥29
The Palace Museum Restaurant, Beijing CHINA
This sucked! It was cold and raining, and we really wanted some hot food to warm us up but this dish was barely lukewarm. Fail! The meatballs were really low quality and the rice was hard.

Bacon, Chinese donut, potato croquettes, steamed fish, chicken sausage, salami, steamed pork bun, lox, capers, olives, artichoke, and brie. Complimentary in Executive Lounge
Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel, Beijing CHINA
Omg, this lounge had a great selection of breakfast items. WAY better than that available at Hilton properties. They still weren’t of the best quality, but there was enough to choose from to keep it interesting.

Caffe latte.

Leaf wrapped. ¥22
Shanghai Dim Sum, Shanghai CHINA
I thought that this tasted good, but I didn’t like the texture. I generally like sticky rice, but there was something extra watery in the filling that kinda grossed me out. The pork tasted good though.

Sauteed shrimp with garlic and chili. ¥88
El Willy, Shanghai CHINA
These shrimp were pretty large and yummy. I loved the deep garlic flavor, although they were a bit overcooked and verging on tough. I did like the cute presentation though.
