Fresh corn polenta, salsa verde. $16
The Table, San Jose CA
Yum yum! The fresh corn “polenta” was very tasty and I loved its texture. The quail was nice and tender and I like dhow they were pre-portioned and displayed.

Bourbon ice cream, candied cocoa nibs. $9.75
Buckeye Roadhouse, Mill Valley CA
This tart was rich, decadent and yummy. The bourbon ice cream could have been more bourbon-y but that’s just because I love my bourbon, hehe!

Lamb meatballs, sherry cream, truffle. Chef’s tasting $45
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
Between the cherry cream and truffle, this was a very aromatic dish (and almost too aromatic – it was almost nauseating). The lamb meatballs were tender, juicy, and yummy though.

Hen of the wood mushrooms. $20
The Table, San Jose CA
This was a nice change having fried rice with farro. I liked all the different textures in this dish and the fried onions were a lovely garnish.

$9.75
Buckeye Roadhouse, Mill Valley CA
I liked this enough and I thought it looked great, but I also would have preferred it if there was less of the toasted meringue. It overwhelmed everything and I wish there was more of a balance with the chocolate and graham cracker crust.

Garlic and paprika sausage. Chef’s tasting $45
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
I love Spanish chorizo. It’s so smoky and flavorful. These grilled skewers of chorizo were lovely. Mmm…

Sierra Nevada cream cheese, pistachio butter. $10
The Table, San Jose CA
This was good, but I was expecting more beets than arugula. I did like all the different textures in it though, and the beets were pretty tasty too.

French fries, coleslaw. $22.75
Buckeye Roadhouse, Mill Valley CA
These ribs were great. I loved the crispy crust and the smoky, tender meat. The fries were also nice and crispy and not greasy at all.

Sauteed shrimp, lemon, garlic. Chef’s tasting $45
Tinto, Palm Springs CA
These shrimp were super juicy and tender and the sauce was wonderfully garlicky. Gambas are one of my favorite tapas and these were a tasty version.

Summer corn vinaigrette, queso fresco. $11
The Table, San Jose CA
This salad was good. I loved the different textures from the cheese, seeds, and greens. The endive and radicchio were also nice and peppery.

Bread and olive oil with butter.

Chicken, prawns, tofu, lo mein noodle, mint, basil. $14.50
Betelnut Restaurant, San Francisco CA
Meh, I wasn’t too impressed with this laksa. It seemed a little watered down to me. I wish there was more depth of flavor and a kick to it.

Horseradish mashed potatoes, toasted breadcrumbs. $21.50
Buckeye Roadhouse, Mill Valley CA
This brisket was nice and smoky, and the mashed potatoes and sauce were packed with flavor and yummy! I just wish that all parts of the brisket was equally moist and tender.
