KFC, Hangzhou CHINA
These were served lukewarm so they really weren’t appetizing. The slightly sweet glaze tasted ok, but it had a slimy texture that was off-putting.

With beef and tendons. ¥43
Yolota, Shanghai CHINA
I didn’t like this very much. The broth was SUPER salty and the beef was tough and dry. I did like all the enoki mushrooms though!

Potatoes in spicy sauce. ¥50
El Willy, Shanghai CHINA
I like aioli, but this amount was a bit overboard! You had to wade through that pile of aioli to actually get to the potatoes underneath (it kinda grossed me out). The potatoes were great though as was the aioli. I just wish there was less of it.

Tai Cook, Shanghai CHINA
This was gross. It had a thick, gelatinous texture that wasn’t appealing. The menu also said it was “hot”, but this wasn’t spicy at all. Lame.

¥32
Guyi Hunan, Shanghai CHINA
These ribs were super flavorful, but a bit dry and tough. You really had to scrape off the excessive amount of cumin seeds to get at the ribs, but the seeds were actually kinda fun to eat. Overall, this dish was a miss because the protein wasn’t cooked very well.

Louwailou, Hangzhou CHINA
This was amazing and just as good if not better than any pork belly that you’ll find in any fancy, expensive restaurant. The pork was tender, juicy and the sauce was rich and bold. Noms!

This sandwich was weird. The chicken had an odd squishy texture and the bbq sandwich tasted weird on a wheat roll. It definitely tasted more American than Chinese, but it was just off…

Sauteed green beans, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Complimentary in Executive Lounge
Millennium Seoul Hilton, Seoul SOUTH KOREA
I liked that they had miso soup available for breakfast. I can eat anything in the morning and don’t confine myself to traditional American breakfast fare. I love miso soup so it was a nice treat in the morning.

Miso soup.

Baby sardines, escalivada lemon, charred garlic sprouts and crispy bread. ¥95
El Willy, Shanghai CHINA
Mmm, these were super tasty. The little sardines tasted great with the smoky bell peppers and charred garlic sprouts while the crispy bread added the needed crunch.

Tai Cook, Shanghai CHINA
This soup was just ok. Actually, kind of bland if you ask me. There wasn’t enough of that delicious galangal flavor that I was expecting.

With vegetables. ¥92
Guyi Hunan, Shanghai CHINA
I loved this dish! The light yolky batter was amazing, and the prawns and large vegetable pieces were fried perfectly. Yes, it was on the salty side but it still tasted great.

I thought this was more of what I think of as egg drop soup than a hot and sour soup. It was very tasty though, and definitely on the vinegar-y side which I liked. They filled it with plenty of crab meat and pieces of fish so it was a nice reminder of the beautiful West lake outside.
