Grilled with pepper jack cheese. $5.95
Koffi, Palm Springs CA
Mmm, this was great. I love that they press the bagel – that made all the difference. They also include plenty of sausage. 🙂

I bought this danish because I liked its shape and color. It wasn’t the usual circular danish that you normally find, and it was pretty good. The margins were a bit overdone for my taste though. $3
Reveille Coffee Co., San Francisco CA

Large coffee. $4

Albacore tuna melt, arugula, house pickles, Shelbourne cheddar. $11
Machine Coffee & Deli, San Francisco CA
While I liked the flavors of this sandwich, I didn’t like the bread to filling ratio. I like sandwiches using baguettes, but there was almost no filling in this sandwich especially since it was a tuna melt. The baguette was also on the hard side. I was not impressed.
7×7 Magazine’s The Big Eat San Francisco: 100 Things to Eat + Drink Before You Die – 2013

Served with potato chips.

Topped with coarse sea salt. $2.50
The Mill, San Francisco CA
This cookies was very tasty. I wish it was a little more chewy, but that’s just personal preference. The sea salt was a great touch!

Coffee. $2.50

The Bay Bridge from the Embarcadero.

Illy brand coffee. 120 PHP
Caffe Xpress, Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (MPH)
This airport is TINY, and I guess they done some renovations to actually expand it. I can’t imagine how small it was previously. The downstairs waiting area gets really packed so we chilled upstairs and grabbed coffee. It was sad to be leaving Boracay! But it actually started raining that morning and it was going to be the start of a cold spell so I guess it was the best time to leave anyway. 🙂

Boarding our PAL flight back to Manila.

Traditional pound cake with caramelized apples and brown sugar. $2.45
Starbucks, San Francisco CA

As far was “American” Starbucks pastries go, this was actually ok. It’s not the best cake ever, but it was at least moist and didn’t taste like cardboard (like most of the crap the pass off as pastries).

California poppy (Eschscholzia californica, Papaveraceae), Bon Tempe Lake.

Served with a sweet rolled wafer cookie. Single scoop 55,000 VND
Caffe Fresco, Ho Chi Minh City VIETNAM
I liked the presentation of this ice cream and that it was served in chilled dish ware. I also liked how they sprinkled a few mini dark chocolate chips on top. I appreciated the details so I didn’t mind paying more than I should have for a single scoop of ice cream.

Single shot iced lattes. Each 59,000 VND
These were ok, but kinda expensive!

Cute “Love” sign in front of the cafe.

Colorful dragon statue, Cong Vien Cuu Long Park, Cholon (Chinatown).

With a complimentary short bread cookie. $4
Espressamente Illy, Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN)
Ugh, the things I will buy to get “free” wifi at an airport, lol! I don’t think I even finished this coffee. I just needed to check something on my phone. #firstworldproblems

The Most Holy Redeemer Saigon.

Coffee flavored jelly in a Frappuccino, what?! Ugh, we are SO boring in America! We need to get with it. 160 PHP
Starbucks, Tagaytay PHILIPPINES

The Starbucks even has a fire pit!

Boats at Taal Volcano Island.

I couldn’t find a description of this dessert on the Starbucks Philippines website, but I would describe it as a soft whipped cheesecake layered with buttery golden graham cracker crusts, topped with mango slices, whipped cream, and decorative white chocolate. Yet another example of how Starbucks shafts their American customers with crappy food options! 140 PHP
Starbucks, Tagaytay PHILIPPINES

This is probably the most beautiful Starbucks location I’ve been to yet. The store is literally built into the side of a cliff overlooking Taal lake and volcano!

Looking from inside the Starbucks down to their fire pit area over looking Taal Lake.

We were on our way down to the South Bay one weekend morning and found ourselves in San Mateo with a hankering for caffeine so we ducked into Mini Coffee. This place is small, no frills, and slightly sad feeling. I really wasn’t impressed, but at least the coffee was ok. Small $1.75
Mini Coffee, San Mateo CA

Hand-decorated shortbread cookie topped with white chocolate icing and a milk chocolate hat. $2.25
Starbucks, San Bruno CA
Merry Christmas everyone! I’m stuck at work today, but I hope that everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends. Remember, it’s not the gifts under the tree that makes this holiday special. It’s the quality time spent with loved ones. I can’t wait to get off work so that I too can share in the holiday festivities. Be safe and be merry! 🙂

Yellow mariposa lily (Calochortus luteus, Liliaceae), Bon Tempe Lake.
