Shortbread chocolate chip cookie, coffee, water. Complimentary
Porter Airlines Lounge, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ)
I like that the gate area at this airport has complimentary drinks and snacks. I think more airlines should do this. It’s super convenient and people were actually respectful about not taking too much food.
Hand-decorated shortbread cookie topped with white chocolate icing and a milk chocolate hat. $2.25
Starbucks, San Bruno CA
Merry Christmas everyone! I’m stuck at work today, but I hope that everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends. Remember, it’s not the gifts under the tree that makes this holiday special. It’s the quality time spent with loved ones. I can’t wait to get off work so that I too can share in the holiday festivities. Be safe and be merry! 🙂
Yellow mariposa lily (Calochortus luteus, Liliaceae), Bon Tempe Lake.
I haven’t had a lot of gluten free cookies yet, but I enjoyed this one. My constant fear for gluten free cookies is that’ll be too dry or have a weird aftertaste. This cookies was still very moist and tasted great! $1.75
Flour Craft Bakery, San Anselmo CA

Pretty tasty and free with purchase!
Powder-puff pincushion cactus (Mammillaria bocasana var. multilanata, Cactaceae), Kentfield.
The French Laundry, Yountville CA
After our 5-hour long meal, we were given a parting bag filled with goodness! Ah, the folks at The French Laundry sure know how to send you off right. The shortbread cookies were super buttery and delicious! And I love the cute tin they came in. Makes you want to return for more!
French shortbread cookie with marzipan filling and apricot and raspberry jam.
Victoria Pastry Company, Greenbrae CA
I’m not quite sure of the technical differences between a cookie and a pastry. The shop called this a cookie, but I would’ve been more inclined to call it a pastry (and probably erroneously). Maybe because it was quite large, glazed, and had marzipan and two different jams. In any case, it was scrumptious! It was so soft and not overly sweet. The marzipan gave it a nice almond flavor and the jams were delicious. I don’t make it out to Greenbrae very often, but I will swing by Victoria Pastry Company for another yummy treat the next time I do.
And, yes, I still had a Philz Coffee New Manhattan with me from the SF commute. They tasted pretty amazing together! Mmm, gotta love Philz Coffee…
