Olive oil poached tuna sandwich – King’s Highway

Olive oil poached tuna sandwich - King's Highway
Toasted baguette, red onion fennel salad, nicoise olives, hearts of celery, Kennebec chips. $14
King’s Highway, Palm Springs CA

Wow, this sandwich was pretty big! It was more of a very chunky nicoise tuna salad on top of a split baguette than a proper sandwich. I’m not complaining because it was delicious, but it was not what I expected. The fresh potato chips were also very yummy.

Skinny margarita – Lulu California Bistro

Skinny margarita - Lulu California Bistro

1800 Silver tequila, agave nectar and fresh lime juice. $5.99
Lulu California Bistro, Palm Springs CA

Not quite sure what made this margarita “skinny”, but it tasted pretty good! Perhaps it’s because they didn’t use any sugary margarita mix. They serve it in a huge glass so I’m sure the large quantity negates any “skinny” promises.

Spicy ahi tempura roll – Matchbox Palm Springs

Spicy ahi tempura roll - Matchbox Palm Springs
Ahi tuna, ginger, garlic, nori, sticky rice, black sesame, wasabi sauce. Happy hour $11
Matchbox Palm Springs, Palm Springs CA

Hmm, this wasn’t very good. It was too salty and the tempura coating was rock hard! I was actually surprised by this because most tempura rolls have a tendency to get soggy. That was not the case here – that coating was tough to chew through. The roll had no finesse and just ended up being a salty gut bomb.
